White screen on boot up

My satellite A70 laptop doesn't get past a white screen on start up. Can't access the drive for a reformat or F keys for rom bios.

My laptop just did the same thing this afternoon. I did a system update earlier this morning too. I hope it has nothing to do with it.

When starting my laptop up, it looked like it was starting up in VGA mode but there were strange colorations on the screen the after the windows logo showed up, it turned to a white screen where the log in is supposed to be. I blindly typed in my password and i can hear windows starting up.

I rebooted in safe mode and selected VGA mode. I can see everything but now it has weird boxed lines everywhere. I really don't know what the problem is. This stinks. I am going to try to backup everything onto an external now.

    Any tips?

How can i go in boot option

Normally when you power on your Toshiba Satellite laptop it attempts to boot the operating system installed on its hard drive.
In some instances you may want to boot the Satellite laptop from a different device, such as an operating system installation CD or a USB drive.
The boot order doesn't have to permanently be set to the hard drive.
It's possible to access the boot order before the operating system loads and change which device is set to boot first.

Turn off the Toshiba Satellite laptop.
Turn it back on immediately and wait for the "press the F2 key to enter Setup" entry to show up on the screen.
Press the "F2" key to access the Toshiba Satellite's BIOS menu.
Use the right arrow key to navigate to the BIOS tab labeled "Boot."

Scroll down to the option labeled "Boot Priority" and tap Enter.
Check through the list of devices and locate the specific device you want to use to Boot your Toshiba laptop, such as "CD-ROM," "USB" or "LAN."

Highlight the name of the device in the list and then tap Enter to make it the top boot priority.
Use the right arrow key again to scroll over to the "Exit" BIOS menu.

Tap the down arrow key to highlight the "Save and Exit" option.
Press Enter to save the new boot order and restart your Toshiba Satellite laptop.

Repeat the procedure when you want to change the boot order back to its original setting.

IBook G4 is stuck at the White Screen with grey apple, and circular loading symbol. It doesn't seem to be able to boot passed the white screen. I bought this used from a friend, it's been working...

Typically this white screen is due to a file system check running. If you boot in to single user mode (boot holding down the S key) you can run a manual file system check by typing in "fsck -f -y" (no quotes). This will run file system check -fix -yes to all

I cant reformat my toshiba harman kardon?what seems to be the problem?

Try loading it into safe mode, to do this turn off your computer turn it back on and as it starts up hit F8 over and over until you get a black screen with white text that you can scroll through. Then look for something that says "Start windows in safe mode" and select that with the arrow keys to move and the enter button to select. If windows does not enter in safe mode, you may want to post clearer information as to what happens when it loads/doesn't load.

Laptop wont even attempt to load windows??

With this kind of problem, you must put in the Windows software disk and boot. Then select repair Windows from the list. This option will attempt to correct the problem.
If you do not have the disc, boot into the repair / diagnostic mode from the boot screen. See if there is an option to create boot disks.

My tosiba a70-kl1 starts up with a black screen and error messages stating "PXE-E61: Media tes failure, check cable" and "PXE-M0F: Eiting PXE rom"

You haved enabled the capability for your computer to "boot" itself by reading from a boot-server connected to your network-cable.

But, the network-cable is unplugged, resulting in the "check cable" message.

What this _could_ mean is that the computer primarily tried, and failed, to boot from your disk-drive, and secondarily tried, and failed, to boot from your CD-ROM, and so it made a tertiary triy, which failed, to boot from the "network", i.e., that your hard-drive is not functioning.

Reboot, and enter "BIOS setup", and disable the "boot from network" option, to get rid of those error-messages. But, it's still possible that your disk-drive is malfunctioning.

It sounds like the hard drive is dying. I had a computer do the same thing and it turned out to be the hard drive. You should still be able to access the bios though. Try hittind either delete or F1 as soon as your toshiba screen appears.

Sounds like a bad hard drive to me. Take out the hard drive completely from the laptop and boot up with the windows xp cd and it should go past the blinking cursor. At that point you know you'll need another hard drive.

Reformatting the Toshiba Satellite 5005-S504

you did not specify what operating system you are currently using, anyhow, if you are using winxp, configure the bios setting set the cd rom as your 1st boot device and insert the winxp cd to the cd rom then save and exit the. computer will automatically reboot after exit. a message will appear "press any key to boot from cd" you may press a key. you follow correctly instructions or message from the screen then you will succeed. hoping that this will help you. if you have some queries you may send me thru my e-mail.
