Question about RCA BD20TF10 20 in. TV/DVD Combo
My tv/dvd combo is acting weird. When I watch regular television the sound works great. When I go to play a DVD, the picture works fine but I get no sound. I plugged in another DVD player to the combo and the sound goes out just fine through the surround sound. Is there some way I can fix the tv so I don't have to plug in a separte dvd surround system to watch and hear dvd's? Thanks for your help!

You have your DVD connected to your VCR, which is then connected to your TV, right? The problem is Macrovision. It's designed to prevent you from connecting your DVD player to your VCR, so that you can't make duplicates of copyrighted movies. It's a real pain in the neck. Try turning the DVD player off - or better yet, unplugging its power cord (as some DVD players are always in a standby mode, even when turned off). If that fixes the problem, then you need to reconnect your DVD player directly to the TV, not wired through the VCR. If your DVD player isn't wired through the VCR, are you using some kind of wire splitter (one cable branches into two) to connect both the DVD player and VCR? That can also cause this kind of interference, if both have power at the same time. There are video switches you can get to work around that. Here's one such switch (first I found for a decent price with a google search): http://www.pickeasy.com/20070827-video-selector-switch-video-game-p-555.html Hope that helps.

Does it work on store bought DVD's?If it does it means it's not compatable with homemade dvd's on pc's or other recorders. If it dose not you have a dirty lens.If a lens cleaning cd doesn't work, the dvd deck has to be replaced, probably exspensive.

I believe you have misunderstood something. The audio output from your TV is stereo. Your RCA system produces surround output from your TVs stereo input.
