Question: Will the fax machine display a message if the memory is full? What about the toner? Will a low toner message display as well? If not, how would we know to clear the memory? Thanks.

What should we look for in this case. We can fax some people some of the time, but there are a few we can't fax at all. Could it be the receiving fax line?

Machine will not receive a fax in auto mode. Only receives if I answer and push the start button. It is very important I don't miss a fax when I am out.

1-the line itself could be bad ( not the jack where you nplug in the wall) the cord itself could have a break in it. try changing the cord cost $1.00 at a dollar store
2-if the memory is full after receiving a lot of faxes, check the memory when it happens
3-if the toner is low it will store it in memory, by you checking the machine turning off and on removing toner etc... you end up resetting it for awhile.

1- depending on the machine it should tell you "memory full"

you need to check the manual to see if yours does

2-yes, it should also tell you toner low, but this feature can accidentally be turned off on some models.

check the setting on your machine.

try plugging a regular phone o that line and call a freind to see if there are any static or anything unusual going on. If not, start with the ones you can't fax at all what do they have in common (area code, zip code, location, ............)

is your fax sharing a common line with another phone ?

Random problems are the worst for techs.

    Good luck

it may possible that you have a DSL conn. for internet & phone line.
In DSL conn. we need a DSL filter to be fitted in ur DSL line,so that you can get a analog line for fax/voice calls.

And if you have a VOIP conn. then plz contact HP technical support.

Can't receive faxes, I can send faxes and print reports though. messages says "Receiving Error - ask sender to send again". Any ideas?

Have you gotten and old telephone and plug it in where the fax goes and see (hear) if you have any problems with a good dial tone and phone line? Does your phone line go near any high power a/c units big motors, mite think about a ferrite core for the fax/phone line. hav ATT or other carrier check your line. Also check your own line when ATT does it there check is only to the location not inside the house. Does your sure protector protect your phone line, really good sureg protectors protect Power lines fax lines!!! and in some case network lines

Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/normanj_7893313f0751935f

Stretched text on faxes

In my experience, this type of problem is on the sender's end and not the receivers. We have sent faxes before and while they are sending, the paper on our end misfeeds and the received copy on the other end is stretched and unreadable. One way to determine this is to have a few different people from different locations send you faxes. If all the faxes have this problem, then it is a good bet it is a problem on your end. If not, then it is probably a problem with this particular sender's fax machine. I hope this helps.
