BenQ PB8220 DLP projector - lamp button continues to flash after bulb replacement

My projector recently lost bulb operation and shutdown with the bulb light button flashing. I replaced the bulb and the projector tries to power up but when the fans turn on the lamp button starts flashing and will go into shutdown. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would appreciate them.

After 2 years I finnaly solved the problem. There was a flaw in the lamp´s temperature circuit. A technician disassambled my BENQ PB8253 unit and fixed the problem. Charged me US$ 75.00. I´m in Brazil.

Hope this can help.

I have had the same problem about three times over the past two years, I have identified that it depends really much on in which sequence you switch off the projector, esp. if it is connected to another device (e..g amp for home cinema). So first the double press to power off, wait for the fan to cool off (no more sound), click on the on-off button to switch off, then switch off your other device if teh PB8220 is conected to it or a laptop).
Every time I've had the problem (the red lamp flashing after reboot), I've left the projector UNTOUCHED for TWO MONTHS, and it restarted and performed well after that. I know this is a real pain but it worked.

I think techvictim may have mistaken DartVeiga's problem Temperature Indicator with the potential problem with the Lamp Indicator.
Techvictim is certainly correct that the power-down sequence should be followed correctly, otherwise powering back up can be well-neigh impossible.
However, I do not believe the two problems of a misleading Lamp Indicator and faulty Temperature Indicator are related.

The projector shut off during operation

It is highly unlikely that you will receive any quotes here; this is a repair website, the only sales would be through links on Fixya pages. I'm sure you can get info on price and availability at the BenQ site:

We recently replaced the bulb in my projector, but it continued to flash "replace bulb". Today, it was running fine then suddenly shut down. The power light is on, but the projector is not on.

IF you did not reset the lamp counter, the unit will shutdown. To reset, press the left and right arrows along with the power button for at least 3 seconds. That will reset the timer. Update this if that does not resolve the problem.
