It's located in the freezer compartment . May have to remove all panels , including the icemaker , to install it . If the fan isn't working though , the problem is probably the main control board , located behind an 8 " X 10" panel , on the back of the refrig . Usually , a resistor burns out and the freezer fan stops working .

GE Profile French door not cooling 70degrees

The thermostat allows power to flow through to the compressor, evaporator fan and condenser fan. If the cooling system fans and compressor are running, but the refrigerator or freezer is not cooling correctly check for an airflow or defrost system problem.

in other words is there ice frozen all inside if so unplug and take a hair dryer and melt the ice thouroghly

WHY THE FREEZER FUNCTIONS BUT THE REFRIGERATOR SECTION DOES NOT FUNCTION ON A GE PROFILE BRITA FRIDGE?

Check for failed evaporator (cooling coil) fan motor, located in the freezer or a failed component in the automatic defrost system.

Evaporator fan not working ge profile pss26mgpa ww

Try spinning the evaporator fan motor with your fingers. If the freezer door was left closd it may have rusted on its shaft and be stuck. We need to test the voltage going to fan if oiling its bearing and spinning byhand does not get it moving. Click Here for a service manual=> HERE and here=> GE Artica Test Sheet The fan motor or a relay on the motherboad may also be defective. You should get 12-13 volts DC at the fan motor, Thanks Sea Breeze

I have a GE Profile GSL251FRF BS. For the past week a high pitched squeal/sqeak is heard when the motor is running. What is that and what's the fix?

This is likely one of the fan motors. If it is coming from the lower back it would be the condenser fan and if it is coming from the frezzer compartment it is the evaporator fan. Both are inexpensive and easy to check and replace. Here are a couple links that should help

What turns on the evaporator fan? I have a 5 year old GE profile bottom freezer fridge. I have discovered that the defrost timer is faulty. The defrost heater works and the evaporator coils frost up ok...

The main control board is probably the problem . Part number WR55X10656 . This board controls the operation of the fan motors and everything else on the refrig . This is also the " defrost timer " . However , the coils frosting up , is probably because the fan motor is not pulling air across them . Not because of a faulty " defrost timer " . This board is located on the back of the refrig , behind an 8"X10" panel . Usually a resistor burns out relating to the fan motor operation . Cannot replace the resistor , only the board .
