it means that is testing the washing cycle , It uses only what it needs to use of your powerball dishwashing detergent by testing the water . The F is displayed while it tests the water in the dishwasher to determine how much detergent it needs.

F is displayed when the dish washer is testing the water to see if more dishwashing powder should be used when in Auto mode. To do with saving the environment to use the least amount of detergent

Pull out the lower basket and unscrew the large cap on the floor of the machine. Pour enough coarse salt into the aperture to nearly fill it and then wipe any salt spillage away from the aperture. Screw the cap back on and replace the basket.

Assuming that you have checked under the dishwasher for a leak (through a faulty sump gasket):
Since there is not actual leak, check the following:
-Confirm that the height of Drain Hose connection (sink-Drain Hose) rises greater than 20′ _minimum_ as it travels to the drain connection.
-If that does not solve the problen, it is probably a worn/broken Impeller of the Washing Pump.
Unless you are mechanicly incliend, a service call is probably the way to do. If you need further steps, please reply. Otherwise, after you ahve used the advise, please accept this solution.

Get an aqua vac and suck out the water (with the dissolved detergent)from the salt container. Refill it with water and repeat the process couple of times. Fill the container with water and salt and it should be fine. Good luck !!
