Question about RCA P61310 TV

2 Answers

No power, no light, not booting up at all.

The tv started to go off at times, then back on. Now nothing. It used to boot up when plugging the power cord in. TTech suggested the relay be replaced. I beleive he may be correct, however I need a location number of the relay. With the location number, I can order the new relay, then find it on the board and replace it.

Re: No power, no light, not booting up at all.

Check to make sure it is plugged in, and try the front panel POWER button.
• Check the wall receptacle (and extension cord, if applicable) to make sure it is “live” by plugging in something else.
• Maybe remote control is not aimed at remote sensor.
• Unplug. Wait five minutes. Plug in again.

You should examine the input power of the TV. If you dare to open the back of the TV You should examine the by using the tester to test the continuity of the voltage input of the TV. i guess voltage regulator need to be tested.

Be careful high voltage inside the TV.

The best way is to contact the vendor of the TV or sony service center in your area.

When I turn the tv on, it sounds like static electricity coming from the back.

Check its final anode connection for arcing. You have to replace the final anode rubber boot, if arcing is here. Seek tech support. This is a dangerous work, for an un-experienced one.

Television will not boot up., Standby light is blinking 4 times which should detail problem?

Hello Paul Westling,
Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!
To answer your question: Your issue is normally caused by a bad component on the power supply board (usually a capacitor) that can be professionally examined and replaced. They may have to replace the entire board.Given that this is a Rear Projection TV, I would definitely recommend a TV Repairman that does house calls.
Have a great day!

32 '' CRT won't turn on afer power surge

Follow these steps to troubleshoot the television not turning on:

Make sure the AC power cord is connected securely to a working wall outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, unplug it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

Press the POWER button on the television.
Press the POWER button on the remote control that was supplied with the television.
NOTE: If the television turns on and off using the POWER button on the television but does not respond to the POWER button on the remote control, troubleshoot the remote control.

Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into a known working electrical outlet.
Attempt to turn on the television.
IMPORTANT for the following models only:

Unplugging the above television models from the electrical outlet may only be a temporary fix. The problem may reoccur after several months of use. To completely resolve the issue, a software update is available.

For all other models, service will be required if the troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue.

Laptop gone dark

This sounds like a burned out backlight lamp.  Had that happen to a Mac laptop used at work:  all the boot-up LEDs and sounds occurred, but a dark screen.  It was fixed promptly by our computer guy, who is pretty amazing at fixing computers.  So all I can tell you is that it shouldn't be a particularly expensive repair.

Viewsonic's are typically well built. Are there any lights on? If you've already sit for a while and then plugged it back in and still nothing, pop the back off again and see if there are any blown (popped up) capacitors on the power supply. Maybe it took a light surge. If there are any bad caps, they usually only cost around a dollar a piece to replace.
We had 2 42" Viewsonic's that get used every day go through a building surge while one was on and it still works great a year later.
