Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F828 Digital Camera

Memory stick error

The battery icon flashes along with this code C:13:01

It also says Memory stick error.

I have three memory sticks, one which is brand new and they have all be reformatted to try and solve this.

I also have two batteries and they have both been charged.

Any thoughts on this would be helpful. thanks.

    Hello

I have got the same problem.

It started when I used the memory stick to upgrade the firmware of my TV.

To solve the problem I formated the memory stick (sony PRO magicgate 512Mb) in my PC and I also downloaded the formatter software from the sony site but it didn't work.

I have sporadically the same problem. When it occurs, a change of the memory stick does not solve the problem. I also went to a shop to let them check if the stick is defective (or maybe the adapter). In one shop a new stick worked, in another shop a new stick did not work.

I assume that it is not really a problem with the sticks, but maybe a problem of the switch inside the F828 (which switches between Memory stick and Compact flash). When the problem occured last time, after two days all worked fine again (without any reformatting, so the formatting of the sticks does also not seem to be the source of the problem).

When the error 13:01 occurs, it is even not possible to format the stick (since the error prevents the menue item format to be used).

This is a problem with the battery connector inside the camera. It is common to the DSC F717 and this camera. It's, unfortunately, a pro camera repair issue on the 828. It can be fixed DIY on the 717. I did it to mine and now it works fine.

Saving Music to Memory Sticks

Memory sticks, memory cards and even USB thumb drives all get attached by Windows as a drive. Pull up Windows Explorer (file manager on Mac). Navigate to My Computer level. THis will show all drives attached including hard drives, connected USB drives and connected memory sticks/cards. You may not be sure which is which unless the drive was labeled with the cards branding. One way to determine is go to lower right task area and click on the 'safely remove hardware' icon (green arrow). Select safely remove hardware from pop-up menu. Check the box for Display device component. This should populate the window above with the actual names of the devices along with the assigned drive letter. Now that you know which one, open Windows Explorer, navigate to My Computer level and the select the drive letter. You can drag and drop files to and from this window to take files on and off the memory card/stick/USB drive. You can also right click on the drive letter and choose properties to see how much room you have on the card.

Problem accessing memory stick

I had the same problem. I bought a 2 gig memory pro-duo with the adapter and it gave me that error even though it fit just fine. I then tried a 512 memory stick and a 1 gig memory stick and neither one worked it gave me the C:13:01 error code. So I found out the hard way that the camera will not read it. The Sony DSC-S85 will not take memory above a 128. Try the Lexar 64MB memory stick. I just bought 4 and they work perfectly fine.

Memory stick error

Try using another memory stick, or insert a confirmed good memory stick, if OK, the memory stick is defective, if the same error, try pressing reset at the back of camera, a small hole beside the the DC jack. if OK, then fine, if still the same, camera needs repair. thanks

Memory stick error

Look at the bottom of the memory card slot, you probably bent one or more of the contactor pins. Use a small screwdriver and carefully try to straight the bent pin then carefully put the memory card back in. From now on, use a USB cable for downloading your pictures and don't pull the card out anymore as the pin is probably weaker than before and can break. Good luck
