Poor game perfomance

Sir my hardware spec is intel P4 (3.06ghz) , 1 GB DDR 400 RAM
intel motherboard 915GAV,GPU 8600GTS 675 mhz 256mb,
power supply:400 watts (20+4 pin)

games runs on poor performance with very low FPS ,when i check the processor in the task manager while playing it gets to above 90% i dont think that the processor is the problem cos i get more points when i check with the systemrequirementslab.com for the specified game and the game manuals to0 say that P4 (2.80ghz) is enough i havent played atleast one game after buying the Graphics card so please solve my problems ~~expecting a good reply from the computer experts~~~

My machine is a Dell dimension 8300 and i used to have a ATI Radeon 9800 and i could play CSS at minimal graphic option at like 70FPS constant and i just got the Warhammer online BETA and could hardly play it because of lag issues, so i bought the FX5200 because my mother board cant use PCI-E and i don't have the money for a new system.

i had a lot of problems try to get this card to work, e.g. when i tryed to run a game it the monitor would go black and flash "OUT OF RANGE" then when i re installed and updated my drivers it wouldnt let me have my resolution at 1024-768 only at 800-600 and then i re installed them again and every thing was going well until i ran CSS and got a max of 30 FPS and tried to run oblivion which i could play before but i was geting like 3 FPS.

is it just the card or is it a problem i can fix?

    would love a fast reply.

    thanks for the help.

What resolution are you playing at? Did you unistall the old card properly first and use drivercleaner pro to remove all traces of the old drivers?

What card did you upgrade from?

Also what version of the card drivers are you using?

P4v845 via intel chipset supports ddr ram

Your motherboard supports only ddr-1 ram modules. This means you can use: pc2100 (266), pc2700(333), pc3200 (400) Mhz modules. Do not mix thease types, it will couse system instability

Good Luck,

Mark

Memory upgrade, download upgrade to run 400

According to the specs of this motherboard, it only supports 333, 266 and 200 MHz DDR SDRAM. It does not support 400 MHz DDR SDRAM.
This motherboard has only 2 memory slots, each can accommodate a 1 GB memory module. Higher capacity memory modules are not supported by this motherboard.
No BIOS upgrade is available to provide support for 400 MHz DDR SDRAM memory modules.

Intel D845GBV Motherboard RAM

You can use only DDR 266Mhz dimms maximum upto 2 GB. i.e. one DIMMS of 266Mhz of 2GB or two of 1GB each. For more details read bellow:

System Memory Features
  • The D845GBV board provide the following memory features:

  • Two DIMM sockets supporting 2.5 V (only) 184-pin 200/266 MHz Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
    Unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only
Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB
Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs only
    Suspend to RAM

  • CAUTION:
Do not use ECC DIMMs with the D845GBV board. Using ECC DIMMs could damage the Desktop Board.

IS DDR SDRAM IS DDR II RAM OR DDR

No. DDR replaced the SD in RAM so SDRAM and DDR RAM are two completely different things but each ram type has its own frequency hence you get SDRAM 100(mhz) and SDRAM 133(Mhz) just like you get DDR 1 RAM at 266(mhz) and 400(mhz) and DDR 2 RAM at 533(mhz) and 800(mhz). Therefore as you can see how these things differ, but if your mboard takes SDRAM that it can take and frequency of SDRAM but you must ensure that all the frequencies of all your RAM modules in all your slots correspond otherwise you will have problems, meaning that if you decide to use 133mhz RAM then all your RAM modules that you use must be the same. Let me know how you go. thanks
