Turn the computer on, steady red light and beeping.

Hi, I just changed the hard drive on my computer, and now when I turn it on, it spins up, and the hard drive light is a steady red. After a second, it starts beeping. It'll beep for a second, stop for a second, etc. I'm afraid maybe I gave it a static shock and terminally broke something, or left something unplugged... I really don't know.

Have check for the pins connections who makes it to be master or slave? Have check how you plugged yours cables at HDD? Know that , the cables are plugged as following:
After to put in the power cable, the data cable must be put in in the way that the Red line must be in the direction of power cable. Check all this , if your HDD was good before , i believe that it will work.
Thanks , good luck!!

When I turn on the external drive, the lights flash.

Hi there,
It all depends on the type of your external. The different light color may indicate different thing. I would say that it may be an update being applied, a hard drive error or a power issue. I agree that this is not very helpful, but it all depends on the drive. Check your device's manual for some details about those lights meaning.

Hope this helps

When I turn the computer on the light is rapid blinking red and has a steady beeping sound.

hi welcome to fixya Continuous beeping can indicate that your Ram is not properly seated, check and reinsert the sticks properly into the dimm slots.

After dropping lacie: red light and recurring audible beep.

You can only hope that the drop has dislodged the drive from the internal connections in the case and has not damaged the drive. You'll have to figure out how to get the case apart.

System not booting, k8n

Have you tried resetting the bios? turn off the computer and remove the power cable connected to the power ATX power supply, look for the "clr_cmos" jumper and change the settings from 1-2 to 2-3 for approx. 10 secs, then return the jumpers to original settings and reconnnect the power cable and turn on the computer. This was the solution when i had the same problem before. Hope this helps you too.

Hardlocked;beeping and red light on motherboard;will not restart

Something on the motherboard has failed, and the RED light confirms it.
Turn your computer off.

Remove ALL of the RAM. Turn your computer on.
Do all the fan(s) start to spin?

Do you get the _same_ "beeps" as before, or some different pattern of beeps?

If it has more than one stick of RAM (and the RAM is _NOT_ labelled 'DDR2'),
then remove all but one stick of RAM, turn your computer on, and try to reboot.
Same beeps?

Turn your computer off, try a different single (or pair of) sticks of RAM.

Caution: before doing any of the above, your computer could be within the "WARRANTY" period,
i.e., it could be fixed/replaced for free!
