How to reset to factory default - to solve blurred text problem

Hello,

For the second time I've been placed at a workstation with an IBM Thinkvision Monitor, and the text is not clear, it looks the way fonts with "anti-alias" on look sometimes in graphics programs.

The first time I was lucky and stopped a tech guy wlaking by, and he found the "reset to faculty default" in the monitor settings, but I can't find that anywhere under the buttons.

Would be very glad to reset this so the text would be sharp and clear.

Thank you.

Needs steps to get inside the factory mode settings- not the user preset defalut settings. Normally, for other vendors they have a series of key combination steps to get in the factory mode.

Press the OSD enter button and scroll down to options. Factory reset is in the options sub-menu.

Thanks for the most obvious of answers. We are looking for the factory button combinations to reset the internal memory and settings, not just the display itself.

Good luck!

I have an Internet Connectivity problem which I believe was caused by resetting our D-Link WBR-2310 router. We have a strange, perhaps illogical network setup in our office. Although it was set up before...

It appears you are not using the wireless connections on both the routers and the reason for using Router B was that there were insufficient LAN ports on Router A to connect to the two workstations that are connected to Router B.
To simplify your network, I suggest you replace Router B with a network hub or ethernet switch and connect the two workstations to this network hub/switch, then configure these two workstation to Obtain an IP address automatically. Router A will then issue IP address to these workstations via the network hub/switch.

17 lcd l170 black screen power on but no display

When powered-on, and *NOT* connected to a computer, most ThinkVision LCD monitors will flash, for a few seconds, the IBM ThinkVision "logo", before going into "power-saving" mode. If you don't see that, then it's time to spend about $120, and buy a new 19" (not 17") LCD monitor.

IBM ThinkVision L191p after power on, remain black.

First place to chaeck will be power supply, the problem can also be caused by bad inverter circuits, bad lamps, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps, lamps, http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

IBM ThinkVision 17" Monitor displays for 1 second then black

This seems to be a common problem with these monitors. Have a look very closely and see if you can still see something there. From there, either send it to get repaired, or, if you are handy with a soldering iron, open it up and replace the 4 main capacitors (at least one of them will be "popped", but it is handy to replace them all.

In order to open the monitor, you will need to remove the stand, and make sure you get all of the screws out before attacking it with a screwdriver.
I have 5 IBM monitors at work with the same problem, and opening them up has shown the popped capacitors.
Again, only recommended if you know what you are doing. Screwing it up will leave you with nothing.
