Re: Burning DVD's

What burner are you using? if your burner is a DVD -RW and using +RW media, you might have a situation there. Check your media vs device.

In Roxio Creator 10, I attempt to burn a disk of a slide show. I receive an error message 8004520C When I check production it reports no problem. This is repeatable.

Generally, defragmenting your hard disk will resolve this issue. To defragment your computer:

  1. Go to Start--> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Defragmenter.
  2. When the Disk Defragmenter window opens, choose Defragment.

If defragmentation doesn't resolve the issue, burn your project as a data file, and then burn your project as a data disc using Disc Copier or Creator Classic. To create a disc image/data file:

  1. After clicking the Burn button, the Burn Project window opens.
  2. You have two data burning options:
    • Image file - this option will save your project as an .ISO file. To burn this file you will need to use the Burn Image option in Creator's Copy section.
    • Folder Set - burning a folder set will create a Video_TS folder that you can burn using Creator Classic. Burning a folder set to DVD will create a fully functional DVD. Do NOT rename the Video_TS folder other wise it will not play! Simply place it in a folder that is the name of your project if you need to keep track.

When burning dvd movies 5-6hrs.long error msg.not enough space on blank disk. Using Memorex 16X 4.7GB 120min.Blanks

Those DVDs can only hold 120 minutes of video. You'll have to cut up the video footage to 2 hour blocks, or change the recording options to burn a data DVD versus video DVD and compress the 6 hour long videos down to less than 4.7GB total.

Cannot burn AVCHD disk. Get this error

The problem with creator 2009 has been fixed by the roxio people.
Instead of burning directly to the DVD disk as roxio software states,
one needs to first save this to be AVCHD movie as a file and then burn directly from the file. This works OK, but as stated this is different
from what the software claims. I'm happy. Thanks

Dvd and cd burner is not burning to disk

Do you have the right DVD disk? There are minus and plus DVD's. (I think most players use minus)

maybe your DVD writer is not a multi/dual format (dvd+ & dvd-), check your writer if the print in front is "DVD-RW"(minus format) or DVD+RW(plus format),

for burning home movies and create a DVD so that you can play it to regular dvd player, i suggest to use xilisoft DVD is the download link, if ask for password on extracting.

Roxio dvd disk type doesn't match project type

Check the following parameters

- Type of disk--> it must be a DVD RW disk (Read and write), if the media is only DVD R, you can't burn it
- Your DVD driver--> Check if it accepts DVD RW(-) or DVD RW(+) or both. With this information, check if the media matches the driver capability
- Roxio settings--> In the Main Menu select--> Disc--> Disk information--> confirm that the right driver is selected (drive D or E or the letter your computer uses for the DVD driver)

Burning disk

A DVD - R disk means DVD Read disk, therefore, in order to burn a DVD you will need a DVD RW (meaning Read + Write)

Also, confirm if you DVD drive accepts DVD(-) and / or DVD(+) disks

'Strobing' on finished DVD

Amy, We would need a few more details about your video in question. Origional movie filetype, method of encoding, software used to burn, capture card used to create file etc. I do know for sure that making an ISO instead of a burning the folders or video files as a data/video DVD really doesn't do anything to help you with this problem. Also are you burning a traditional DVD or like many new players will play divx, xvideo, and windows media files. All of which could be burnt to a CD or DVD, and I have seen many files act similar to what your describing. Basically try to encode the video with another program and check to make sure you are using the appropriate frames per second. Here's a link to a free encoder that really works great for me. O yea if you are trying to copy a vhs to dvd or a dvd without ripping the dvd you will get uneven audio, and video problems its called MACROVISION. good luck, Hack
