What burner are you using? if your burner is a DVD -RW and using +RW media, you might have a situation there. Check your media vs device.

MY PC has sony DVD-ROM DDU1615 that I can't record my videos onto a dvd

you cant burn a disk with a dvd rom
you will need both a dvd rw unit and a dvd rw disk to burn any video to a disk if you have both of these the burning program might not support video burning or you might not have selected the right option there are lots of free burning software programs that can burn videos to a disk you might have to burn it as an ISO image
http://www.majorgeeks.com/BurnAware_Free_d5839.html
BurnAware Free is one of the most popular free CD, DVD, Blu-ray Disc burning software available for Windows.
Using this program you can easily create and burn Audio and MP3 CD, Data and DVD-Video disc, ISO and Cue Image,
erase or format rewritable disc, copy your CD or DVD to ISO image.
hope this helps

I keep having failed burn sessions it says "Power Calibration error" what and how can I fix that

Their could be several possible reasons and solutions for the above error, basically what is happening is for some reason the CD/DVD burning software is unable to determine the Optimum Power Calibration rate (a small pre-burn test to determine optimal laser power for writing), resulting a disk burn failure. There is no easy way to pinpoint the exact reason, so try all the possible fixes from top to bottom (easy to hard) and see what works:
Try using different brands of quality blank media, most common reason for such error's is cheap blank media.
Try burning at lower speeds (Highly effective).
If this fails try a different burning software

I have always been using Nero burn software with my LG GSA-2166D DVD RW. Now I bought Nero Multimedia Suite 10. No any writing process has been successful. I have since yesterday spoiled 10 DVD's....

speed of source data is too slow = the hard disk cannot deliver the data fast enough and the burning process stops; this is a sign of a severely fragmented file system and very charged background processes: defragment your hard disk, stop using other programs when burning a disk and use 8X as a recording speed.
Track Following Error = the laser head in the burner is no longer capable of following the track it has itself burned - the lens is dirty, clean it.

My drive is listed as DVD-RW-DVR-lllD, but when I put a DVD disk into it, it changes automatic to CD-RW Drive E. How do I keep it as a DVD burner?

Try burning a disk, and taking the burnt disk to another computer, to see if the other computer recognizes the media as being a DVD disk.

It wont record on 16xdvd+r discs? what is the properdisc

  • Media Type that the unit will play CD , DVD , CD-R , SVCD , CD-RW , DVD+R , DVD-R , DVD+RW , DVD-RW , DVD-ROM , Video CD
  • Media Format PAL , NTSC
  • Recordable Media DVD+R , DVD+RW only.. It will not record on the more expensive and compatible DVD-R, DVD-RW.
  • I recommend burning at a slower speed such as 2.4X, 4X or at most 8X.
  • I had similar issues resulting in many "coasters" for drinks burning at a faster rate even with my computer. Although some disks are designed to burn at a faster rate, software and components sometimes cannot keep up resulting in wasted money and time.
  • It may also be the media (manufacturer of disks). No matter which DVR or Burner you may have certain hardware schemes do not like certain media. It is a trial and error process. Just make sure the store has a return policy for the disks if they don't work. I have never had a problem returning disks to Staples that did not work.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Roxio dvd disk type doesn't match project type

Check the following parameters

- Type of disk--> it must be a DVD RW disk (Read and write), if the media is only DVD R, you can't burn it
- Your DVD driver--> Check if it accepts DVD RW(-) or DVD RW(+) or both. With this information, check if the media matches the driver capability
- Roxio settings--> In the Main Menu select--> Disc--> Disk information--> confirm that the right driver is selected (drive D or E or the letter your computer uses for the DVD driver)

Cannot copy files to DVD disks

First of all you should have the recording tab ON. Have you tried burning using Nero instead of dragging and dropping? This may solve the problem.

However, if you prefer to drag and drop, try setting the write speed to a slower setting, even if the dvd burner has faster write capabilities.

1. I do not think it is a hardware issue.

2. You can try replacing the IDE cable, but if you can read the contents of the disk it does not suggest a communication issue between the drive and mobo.

3. I do not think that the burning software is to blame, when you drag and drop you are actually using a windows based burning software that is installed with the operating system.

4. set up your files to burn through nero, let the software do the work.

I had the same issue with my dvd burner, although slightly different error messages, solved it by using nero instead.
