Computer file doesn't play on DVD player

I have a video (wmv) file on my computer taken from my digital camera. I would like to burn it on a DVD so I can watch it on my DVD player. When I tried, however, it is still unreadable on my DVD player.

Re: Computer file doesn't play on DVD player

Hi, burning a WMV file to a dvd wont work on a standard dvd player due to the format, easiest way to fix the problem is using Nero, and selecting video disc and it will convert the file when it burns the disc to a playable format..

Have a nice christmas

The format on which you have written the file is not read on the DVD player and so when the files is burned please choose the option to write the files in the format which can play on any player mode when the request for burning comes up.

I would like to know if there is a way that I can burn the videos from MY Flip device to dvd's through the dvd burner? if not directly, can it be done through the computer?

im not sure on your FLIP device using jvc everio but if it has a dvd burner in its program i dont see why you could'nt burn it to a dvd
you would have to convert your video to a dvd format Any Video Converter is a freeware program you can find it at Any Video Converter is an all-in-one video converting freeware with easy-to-use graphical interface, fast converting speed, and excellent video quality. It can convert almost all video formats including DivX, XviD, MOV, RM, RMVB, MPEG, VOB, DVD, WMV, and AVI to MPEG-4 movie format for PSP or other portable video device, MP4 player, or smartphones. It is the freeware to convert video files between multiple formats and download YouTube videos

you must connect the device to the computer once its connected you will be able to see it in my computer click start right click on my computer select open you should see your FLIP device open it you should be able see your video file.
then open up your burning program depending on which burning program you have you can select either dvd or cd to burn an iso or make a cd/dvd movie once you have made your choice a browser should open navigate to your flip device video select it ((will depend on which burning program you have)) add to you could a graph oh how many mbs have been used once it loads select burn
hope this helps

My macbook pro doesn't recognize my rosewill usb 2.0 burner. How do I install?

Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. or
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or

you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark?! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
hope this helps

I burn a dvd from an iso using 2 different computers but they won't play on standard dvd players. only on computer or a portable player

'Standard' DVD players will not play computer video formats such as .AVI or .DIVX or .WMV or .MP4 whereas the 'generic' and cheaper (chinese) Players will support them (they will state that they support MPEG, DIVX and MPEG 3 & 4 formats).
Unless your ISO results in a properly DVD formatted media (with multiple files and file types including .DAT), it simply will not work.
Note that many 'standard' (and branded) DVD players will not support many rewritable CD or DVD.
Hope my information will help you assess your problem

Acer dvd problem

When you burn dvd's to play on DVD players dont burn them as Data dvd they will not play. When you burn the DVD movie try to burn it using a DVD player compatible profile and this depends on the application software you are using to burn the DVD.

Do the DVD play on your computer from DVD or even from the file on hard drive.

If it does not play from the file on hard drive then the file is corrupted on downloading or you dont have a proper dvd palying software like PowerDVD

If it plays from the software but does not play from the DVD on your computer, then it means your DVD burner softaware corrupts file information on burning. Try using a different burning software.

If it plays DVD on your computer but not on the DVD player then your DVD burning profile you selecting is not compatible with your player its possibly burning Data DVD.

DVD disk

check to see what format your computer burns on.[ex:dvd-r, dvd-rw,dvd-+r,dvd-+rw]different dvd players play certain dvd formats.the format for burning on your computer is probably different from the dvd players that aren't playing the also must finalize the burned disc.
good luck
