  • thurow Mar 11, 2008

I have the same problem. The Fax and copy will not work from the top feeder tray. It will dial and start to fax but then the paper will stop about a 1/4 way in. The paper is NOT JAMMED! When the paper stops a I hear a loud ZZZZZZ . It will then tell me ERROR!/Turn off print. After turning off printer it will feed the paper through then will reset. I have tried to unplug the printer and then try again an nothing has worked. The warranty just expired.

the top document feeder rollers do not pull the paper through --- therefore, I can only fax 1 page at a time ---- any solutions? tdab@chartermi.net

  • himart Apr 03, 2008

The top document feed fails to pull paper through. It pulls paper a short way then stops accompanied with a buzzing sound; like a stripped gear would sound. To removed the paper, I have to open the automatic feeder assembly. There seem no way around this problem, except putting paper on the glass one at a time.

Paper jammed while trying to fax. Can't pull it out from top or from underside. Some of it has ripped. I can't find a way to take the feed mechanism apart. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem (surprise, surprise). Document feeder won't pull the paper through in order to scan. There appears to be a problem with the wheels.

The auto feeder begins to take in the page then about 4" into it...it dies. and an error message comes up saying to shut down and restart. Keeps doing this.

Is it jammeded or is it simply a warning saying it is?

Remove all paper and attempt a paper feed without paper.
The paper feed and delivery trays are removable so remove them and carefully reset them.
Making sure the paper is well fanned reload and retry.
Come back with the result.

Display says line error and print out says jam

• Check the connection. The cord from the TEL.LINE jack to the wall jack should be no longer than
six feet.
• Make sure there are no modem devices sharing the same telephone line.
• Check with the other party to make sure their fax machine is functioning properly.
• Have your telephone line checked for line noise.
• Try connecting the fax machine to a different telephone line.
• If the problem still occurs, your fax machine may need service.
Clearing a jammed document
If the original document doesn't feed properly during transmission or copying,
or DOCUMENT JAMMED appears in the display, first try pressing start/memory . If
the document doesn't feed out, remove it as explained below.
Important:
Do not try to remove a jammed document without releasing it as explained
below. This may damage the feeder mechanism.

My fax is having a problem feeding pages through the document feeder, it doesn't always grad the page, and if it doesn't get it, it acts like it has a paper jam, what is causing this?

Open the document feeder. Inside you will find a grey feed roller. Cleaning this roller with a cloth dampened with water will help with these paper jams in the document feeder.

I have a black streak all on one side when i copy ?

If it is just when you copy and not when you print then it is a cleaning issue. Toner cartridge would cause the line to appear on copies, printouts and faxes. There is a piece of glass inside the auto document feeder that is probably dirty. Open up the document feeder as if you were clearing an original document jam. Look for a piece of glass inside the ADF, it will run the length of the document feeder. There is probably some dirt or another popular problem is white out. Clean off the glass with glass cleaner or alcohol and it should fix the problem.

Document Feeder Jamming.

The feed rollers may be worn out and need to be replaced, you can try cleaning the rollers with some alcohol, this may also make it feed better. but if it starts to act up again it might be time for new rollers.

Hope this is of some help.

Document jam

There is most likely a very small piece of paper in the document feeder.
What you can do is take a minella folder or some card stock, open the document feeder cover and shove the folder or card stock through the feeder to dislodge whatever is stuck in there.
The document sensor itself may be knocked out of position.
It can't be the copy paper path since you can print.

Jamming of paper using the Automatic Document Feeder

You may have a really tiny paper jam. You need to open up unit to get access to feeder properly. Use a torch, jams can be so small you can miss them. cheers lilacgerry
