Our tv has this clicking sound that over a week got fast and faster with a small black line that would appear on the screen when it clicked. During the week the tv clicking went so fast that the tv shut off and came back on and then shut off and I left it off and took it to the shop. They said it is the flyback and would cost $211.70 to fix. Question, is this worth paying for a 3 year 3 month tv and he also said this is common in these tv's. Could there be a recall that is out there? Thanks
The on/off switch. I will turn on the TV and then it clicks off. Sometimes it turns right back off when I hit the on switch, now it clicks on like it's ready to come on, then it clicks right back off. It has been like this for 3 days now. I called the TV repair guy and he said he has been getting a lot of TV's doing this and his suggestion was to make sure it the house is heated at a certain temperature then try it.

Probably not. RCA parts for this model are very difficult to find. Even you could find a kit, it will not have enough to repair. A do it yourselfer or TV tech will have a difficult time repairing this. Please shop for a new TV. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!
Bad connection somewhere along the bottom or top of the panel, there are boards most likely along the bottom of the screen that control vertical drawing, a connection that breaks as it is heated up sounds about right. check the connectors along the bottom. Be very careful because if you wreck em the screen is junk. The connector that will be at fault will be in direct line with the black bar.
Both sound like bad LCD panels. The following must be answered to confirm this: Do the lines appear on all inputs/all signal sources? Can they be seen in the OSD/menu? If yes to both questions, it is likely that the LCD panel is bad
there wasent a so called recall but there should have been and maybe if you got an attorney maybe you can start a class action as I know a minimum of twenty repair persons who must have customers, about 35 maybe more per repairperson who paid to have this set and other RCA fixed with a bad flyback xformer. Its sad when companeys cant stand up and say "Hey we made a mistake". RCA did have a problem and still do with sets out there with a tuner and ground problems that this problem would happen on a set just out of warrantee and cost the average customer 125 to 200 bucks to fix. RCA wasent sued over this as they had Millions of claims so what RCA did was to who ever could prove that they paid top have this done sent the customer a 50.00 cift certificate towards another RCA purchace!!! WHAT A JOKE THAT IS!! Good Luck as maybe this site could set up a page to get all those rca customers to sign up on and maybe we can get an attorny to handle this and file this for us??? BTW I have 2 sets I paid for the parts to replace!
