Question about Canon EOS-20D Digital Camera

My EOS20D just does not work anymore

Yesterday was fine, I shot pictures, which I wanted to unload today. I connected to my computer and nothing happened. I took a look at it and by turning it on an off nothing changed on the display. I tried to see the pictures on the stick, but the display remains dark, nothing happens. I tried to shoot a picture: the lens would adjust, I see some numbers on the inner display and the flash pops out, but the usual red markings that appear before I can actualy take the picture won't appear and there is no picture taken. I see sometimes in the inner display a "busy" that just appears shortly but the camera doesn't seem to do anything anymore. I tried to take out the stick, replaced the battery with a charged one and took a look at all the settings, but they won't change. In the display I see the AWB Mode and the "all focus" , the rectangle for automatic, an L, the an eye and some flash sign.

Thanks for helping. I hope is just some weird setting and my camera is not broke.

    Hello,

I have the same problem. When the shutter button is pressed, the camera

adjust the focus, flash pop up, LCD screen is working but the LCD monitor

doesn't display anything. Apparently there is no access to Compact flash and no connection with the PC.

Well, I think I have to send it in, because to me there is some problem with one of the circuits. Probably some chip is defect. I have 2 batteries, tired them both, two canon lenses and there is no difference by trying them, plus I don't think the lens can be the problem since the camera does something but it seems to be unable to access the stick. Well and I tried both sticks so it is something in the electronic not the stick, because I can read both very well on the computer...I am just so mad because it is right now at Christmas time and we didn't use it much and cost so much money...I would definetely not expect such a problem after 18 months of normal, private use and good care... They should offer more warranty, because I think it is unfair to pay more money now to fix it. I would switch to Nikon but we invested a lot in the other lens and all the accs. we have to send it in...Their support by the way wasn't helpful; I don't think the lady that answered my call knew something about cameras because all she could tell me was to send it to New Jersey...Yeah, probably I will never buy Canon again...

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

My LaCie external hardrive doesn't show on my desktop anymore when I plug it in. This just started today yesterday it was fine, but now the light doesnt even come on

First try to plug it in to a different port on your computer.
If it still doesn't come up, reboot your computer, Still not working? Try connecting it to a different computer.
If the drive still doesn't come up on the other computer most likely the case/ housing will need to be replaced.
