Oven door will not unlock.

I have a Jenn-Air model SEG196 (no manuel) that I tried to start the self-clean cycle. It would not start and now I cannot unlock the oven. Help!

I also have a Jenn Air SEG196 that will not unlock after self-cleaning. We just bought the house and have no manual for the range/oven. I ran the cycle and waited for the oven to cool completely before turning the temperature knob to OFF and the oven selector knob to OFF. At this point the LOCK light went off, but I could not open the oven door. I have even ran the Self-clean cycle again, hoping to be able to open then, but with no luck. My oven is still locked. Please help!

You will not be able to open the door if you turn off temp gage. Return the temp gage only to clean and door should open.

Self cleaning ovens

Perhaps it hasn't cooled down enough; or you may have to run the self-cleaning cycle again. The oven has to reach a certain temperature before it starts to turn the residue to ash.You may have interrupted its cycle.

It then has to cool off sufficiently to safely open the door.

Jenn-Air stove locked

After the lock indicator light goes out, move the door lock lever to the left. The oven door can now be opened. Turn the selector and temperature knobs from clean to off AFTER THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED. If the temperature knob is turned to off BEFORE the door is unlocked, the door will not open. Forcing the lock will damage the lock mechanism. If this should happen, return the temperature knob back to CLEAN, unlock the door, THEN turn the temperature knob off. Jenn Air oven door won't open after clean cycle

Had this EXACT same problem the day before a party where I needed the oven for lots of baking.... Tried all sorts of things, was about to call a repair man- I FINALLY got it to open by following the first two directions for putting it into self clean mode (turned both knobs to CLEAN), then when it said to lock door I tried to move the lock lever and bam it worked! Give it a shot! Good luck! (:

Door won't unlock after self clean

Try turning the breaker off for a few minutes, If that doesn't work try restarting the self clean mode and canceling after it starts. If that fails list a brand and model number with the problem.
