Question about Fargo Pro L ID Thermal Printer
I am using MS word to print id cards and I am using the ymckok ribbon and the correct setting in the driver for this ribbon. But when I print the printer will pause and it will advance the ribbon several feet and use a single panel and them advance more. The end result is that it takes a while to print cards and I am getting about 50 cards out of a 250 card ribbon.
It sounds like you may need to calibrate the ribbon sensor.
Go to the driver icon in your printers folder.
Right click on the Pro-L driver's icon, and select "Printing Preferences".
Click on the "Advanced" button in the lower right corner. A new window will open.
Scroll to the bottom and you will see "Calibrate...". Click on that and a button appears next to it that says "Properties...". Click the "Properites" button and another window appears.
On this screen, you'll see a button on the right side that says "Sensors...". Click on it, and yet another window opens. Almost there.
Here, you'll see two sections. The top section is for calibrating the ribbon sensor, the bottom is for the lamination sensor. Remove the ribbon and close the lid. Click on the "Send" button in the top section to calibrate the ribbon sensor. Your printer should beep twice.
After that, hit cancel on the previous windows to close out everything.
Normally this fixes this kind of problem, but if it doesn't, then there is something broke in the printer, possibly the sensor itself.
