Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera
I need a battery, charger, and a usb cable for a sony cybershot 6.0 mega pixal DSC-W50 camera. Would really like a book on how to use it. Please help. Lisa Malone
You may download the manual and more here.
One source for battery and charger is here. There are others available at overstock --- simply enter "NP-BG1" into the search box.
You should be able to find a USB cord at just about any electronics store. But I personally wouldn't bother. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

Before anything else try to reset all from the menu for the internal settings. This may get the camera back to where you will see the format option.
Make sure you format and delete all that is in the internal memory. This may be due to a full or corrupted memory space internally.
Because the camera can work with the memory stick, it seems that there is some problem with the memory internal space.
Try the format as mentioned above. Some cameras will only allow you to delete all in the internal memory.
Go to the menu and look for format the memory, and remove the card so that the internal memory will be defaulted.

SOURCE: Access problem in DSC-W50
I had the same problem described here and read that you can bang the camera as you power it on. I banged my DSC-W50 while powering up, at first lightly with increasing strength each time. It started working after the 3rd impact.
