Hi,
Click on the start menu (orb), go to the Control Panel and select Programs & Features. From the list of installed software locate IE8 and uninstall it.

Restart your computer and download IE7 from here (its say's it's for XP, just ignore that it will work on Vista)

May i also recommend Mozilla Firefox. This much easier and faster than any version of Internet Explorer. Get it here >>>>>

It depends on which version of Internet explorer came with your machine. If you have downloaded a new version you should find it in the program files and you should be able to uninstall it just like any other program. Then your machine should revert back to the old default version that came with the machine. As with all Microsoft products expect bugs and things to not work as they should afterwards.

If that fails you cant find it in your program files. As I don't have Vista and only XP I can only tell you where to find it on XP and you will have to make adjustments for Vista:

go to Control Panel>Program Files>Uninstall Windoze components and put a tick in the I.E box and just click next and it should set I.E back to the old version you had before.

Personally I would do myself a favour and get another browser that quite frankly is as shoddy as you can get. The best ones are Opera or Firefox. I.E is trash and the only reason I have it on my machine is to test my webpages in. The more you work with the web the more you realize what a shoddy piece of trash Internet Explorer actually is.

I'm assuming this is an update from IE7 to IE8. First, go to 'Control Panel', then left-click on the 'Uninstall Programs' link or the 'Programs and Features' icon. On the 'Tasks' pane left-click on the 'View Installed Updates' link. Find 'Windows Internet Explorer 8' in the listing and left-click on it to highlight it. Now left-click on the 'Uninstall' button. Left-click on 'Yes' when asked if you're sure you want to uninstall this update.

If you can't find a listing for the IE8 update, then you may have to run spuninst.exe: Find the C:\Windows\ie8\spuninst\ folder. Find and run spuninst.exe. You'll have to reboot your PC after it's done un-installing the update.

Internet explorer 8 is the most stable browser version microsoft has released. Anyways if you wish to downgrade to IE7, better do this -
Download Internet Explorer 7, and uninstall IE8 which you are already previously using. When you install IE7 it will prompt you to upgrade to the latest version, but hit to ignore the message and choose the option to not alerting again.

Cannot download Internet Explorer from any site I tried

Access: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads

Under the "Popular Downloads", find:

Windows Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP

If you're running Microsoft Vista, instead click "more"
to find IE8 for Windows Vista.

If you're running Microsoft 7, IE8 is pre-installed.

Ever since upgrading to Internet Explorer 8, I find that I cannot print emails, open up many attachments, and retrieve other information. For example, if I click on a link, I get the following message:...

Ther are known conflicts with Vista and IE8 - particularly with Vista 64-bit.

I would suggest uninstalling IE8 and reinstalling IE7 or using an alternative browser such as "slimbrowser" (excellent program) or similar.

IE8 can be uninstall by using Add or Remove Programs module in Windows XP, but in Windows Vista, Windows Internet Explorer 8 is not considered to be a ‘program’. Instead, IE8 is categorizing as an ‘update’. Thus, users will not be able to find Windows Internet Explorer 8 in “Programs and Features” of Windows Vista.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, go to Control Panel, and click on Uninstall Programs link or Programs and Features icon. Then on Tasks pane on the left, click on View installed updates link. Locate and select Windows Internet Explorer 8 in the list of installed updates, and then click on Uninstall button. Click on Yes when asked that are you sure want to uninstall the update.

If there is no option of IE8 been found on “Programs and Features” or “Add or Remove Programs” dialog box, or uninstallation of Internet Explorer 8 is unclean (causing error message such as setup cannot continue because a more recent version of Internet Explorer has been detected on this computer when trying to downgrade to IE7), try to manually run the spuninst.exe.
To do so, go to C:\WINDOWS\ie8\spuninst\ folder (your drive letter may be different), and run spuninst.exe.

Restart the computer after uninstallation completed.

Hope that helps :)
