Hello, I can't seem to add my xerox network printer to my new laptop running Vista. This is the message I get: "Windows cannot connect to the printer. There is not enough memory to complete this operation. Please close some programs and try again" Needless to say, I'm not running any programs.

If you have tried the normal printer wizard process and were unable to get a printer to function, then verify the network name of the computer that has the shared printer and the share name of the printer, then follow these steps. Worked for Me.

1.How are you attaching to the network printer from your daughters computer? IP address, or by the name of the printer...Also make sure you check you are attaching to the network printer, and not local printer.
2. Install the Microsoft TCP/IP version 6 protocol on both computers by clicking install on your LAN properties, then restart PC. This should work!
you should be able to as long as there are Vista drivers available.
make sure you first share your printer from the desktop it is attached to. then on the Visa laptop try to Add Printer choosing network printer (as opposed to local printer) and browse for the shared printer. Vista should tell you it has to install software so allow it to. Have the disk ready (does it have Vista drivers on it do you know?).
Word of caution: Vista's a little quirky with networked printers so you may have to delete the printer on the laptop and add it back if it doesn't work the first time (I had to do that even though all machines involved were Vista :/ ).
I am having windows vista home basic in my computer. I am not able to share files to other computers connected in my network. also, I am unable to view network computers in my network. How to enable network computers visible.
On your computer, click mouse on windows icon in lower left corner of screen. When the menu appears, left click on 'printers'. Go to the icon representing the Xerox, and right click mouse. from the drop-down list, chose 'properties' at the bottom. The 'properties' window should appear. Under the ''general' tab, it should show 'yes' for double sided prints. Go to the 'accessories' tab and left click mouse. A list of installed accessories should appear. See if there is a 'duplexer' accessory available. If it is, left click on the duplexer display and add it to the Xerox. Left click mouse on "apply" tab, then left click on the "OK' tab. Exit out of 'printers' and test.
