You will have to replace the fan sensor. If the fans are not working then the temperature will rise when stopped and cool down when running because of the air coming through he radiator.
A head gasket leak will show up by lose of water and bubbles in the radiator, with it topped up to the neck of the filler. Worst indication is water in the oil and out the exhaust.

If the rad hoses and heater hoses are more then 5 years old it could be leaking from any one of them. The pressure build up when the engine is stopped. I would use a coolant flush, change the antifreeze, all the other hoses and use bars leak to seal any small leaks

It's going to be your main relay, located under the dash on the drives side, turn key on and off, you will he a clicking sound, that the main relay control your power to you computer also.

Just replaced radiator top hose on 1990 honda

the radiator core is corroded ,just renew the radiator ,putting leak sealers in will only prolong the agony .

If your antifreeze is leaking into your engine oil, it will destroy the engine quickly. Check the level of both. But...you need to get a pressure gauge on it to apply pressure to the cooling system to see where the coolant is going first. White smoke is a sign of coolant in the engine oil.

have the compression checked its likely a head gasket is leaking and letting antifreeze back in the cylinder when you turn off the engine radiator would also be a lttle low

yes you can add water,however you have to remember that the boiling point of water is 212 degrees where as coolant mixture of 50/50 has a boiling point of 240 you have to get the vehicle to the shop and quickly. if you go too long the engine heads will either warp or crack and so will the block as well so find a shop and fast... please rate this

1990 accord ex won't start

poor compression. there is probabaly a bad ratio of air and gas. there might be a leak inside the cylinders.

If you're running low on anti freeze, and the car is smoking, AND if it's running a bit rough, you may have blown a head gasket which would allow for coolant to pass into the cylinder(s) and both cause the coolant level to drop and the car to smoke (steam).

If the smoke is white then you have a blown head gasket and the leak is coming from the head gasket if the smoke is blue or black it is not related to the leak. They may be two seperate issues, leaking antifreeze could be the waterpump, a hose connection, leaking radiator, cap, or gasket for the thermostat.
