Taking pictures with low light

Hi, whenever I use my SP-510 in mid or low light conditions the pictures always have a lot of "grain" in them and quality is rubish, even with the flash on.
I am probably missing something extremely basic but I would assume an 7.1x megapixels camera would provide better quality than that.

How Much Resolution is on Film?

Actual film resolution is dependent on the size of the grains of the light-sensitive emulsion used to coat the film. Generally speaking, the larger the grains, the 'faster' the film will be, meaning that it will react to light more quickly and you can take pictures in conditions were lower light levels are present.
When I was using 35mm film cameras, I could use Kodak Tri-X film with an ISO rating of 400 to take low light pictures in black and white. The grain of the photos was not the best, but I could get pictures that might otherwise be difficult to take successfully.
The 'gold standard' for color pictures was Kodachrome slide film, with an ISO rating of 25. It had a very small grain color emulsion, which allowed very fine detail to be recorded by the film, but the slow reaction speed of the color emulsion to light meant the objects needed to be lit by the sun or high-intensity artificial light to photography correctly.

LCD DISPLAY IS BROKEN HOW TO BAY A NEW

I almost always use ebay to purchase replacement parts like LCDs or other things. Just be smart when searching. Below is a link to the ebay listings for the part you require. Replacing the Screen is usually a little tricky, so take your time when taking the camera apart and make sure you keep all screws and have clean hands, and a clean workspace.

Is the olympus sp- 510 uz a good camera? I found one at the pawn shop for a good price. I want to use it to take pictures, as a hobby. The guy that sold it to me, said I can take black and white with it.

It was $279.95 when it came out in 2006. A lot of people liked it. If yours actually works (buying at a pawn shop is always "iffy") and you got it at a great price, be happy.

Camera takes blank pictures on closeup.

Have you set the camera to "Micro" mode? Usually a button or dial setting with what looks like a Tulip on it.

How do I get the date stamp on my Olympus SP-510 UZ Digital Camera pictures?

The SP-510 will not deface your pictures by scrawling numbers across them. However, the data is stored with every picture. Depending on the program and printer, you can print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back. Please refer to the documentation for the program.

If you print directly from the camera, refer to the instructions in the "Printing" section of the camera manual (page 46 in my copy).

I have a brand new Finepix S8100fd camera and the majority of the photos are speckled no matter what setting I use. However the super macro setting rocks and pictures are super clear! My Fuji 7.1 mega

Common issue with the A8100fd. The most likely problem you are having is not enough light. Try shooting in bright sunlight to test the "graininess". Make sure you use the flash anytime the light is not bright. Even though the camera will shoot in low light (without flash), because it defaults to a high ISO setting, which (just like film) accentuates the "grain", or more properly termed in digital photography, "noise". Set the camera for a low ISO setting and use the flash whenever you see the "red hand" symbol on the screen.

I know a few years a good the best camera for filming inside was one with a single large chip. Most cameras have multiple smallish ones apparently to give you good colour quality.
You need light to reflect the wavelength of a colour, so if there is no light the CCJ's (digital equivalent to light sensitive grains) have difficulty deciding what to do or what shade to give, (the absence of colour is not a colour,) giving you a grainy effect. You can increase the amount of light into a camera in low conditions ie shutter speed but this may give you blurred photos.
