Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console

Psp not recognising game discs

We bought a PSP for our son last xmas. A few weeks ago it decided not to recognise the game discs anymore. Im quite handy with a PC but know nothing about these things. Weve also misplaced the receipt, but a few friends of mine seem to think it may be a software problem. Can you please help?
I have also connected the psp to my pc and had a look in the root dir and there doesnt seem to be any information in there whatsoever. I mean nothing, in any of the folders, does this mean there is no operating system? does it even have an operating system, who knows? not me for sure

Re: psp not recognising game discs

The operating system is in the flasho and flash1 you wud not see it by merely connecting usb. If its not a lens problem or board, den I believe u shud check the umds because they are very sensitive and get scratched easily

Cant get games to play on my sons psp

This may be a number of problems. The disc might be scratched or damaged. Or there could be dust on the leans.

You say it's a second hand PSP? In that case, you may need to repare it. I'm not quite sure where to go to get repares. Sorry.
