No sound when calls come in

When I receive or make a call the sound can't be heard - ringing or person on the other end. They cannot here me speak either. The phone is not muted or the sound is not turned down. Any suggestions?

Yep, I've encountered the same problem. Very annoying from an otherwise pretty decent phone

rings normally for a few days then randonly reverts to silense and I miss all of my call. Setting the phone to outdoor does not fix the problem. This is the second new nokia 6120 classic in three weeks and the same problem on both. Restoring the factory settings fixes it but I find this unacceptable. What is wrong with these phones?

No ring tone when someone calls.

We trouble shot like the wiz said to do and now when the headset is plugged in we can hear the ring tone...if the headset is not plugged in we can not hear the ring...we plan to go back to walmart and trade in the Nokia 2610 we bought there.

    Thanks Wiz.

Exactly same problem. Happens spasmodically, very frustrating. Apart from this hiccup, I love this phone.

same problem. No ring, no sound, but the screen shows that calls are coming in. No voice can be heard and no one hears me.

This problem now seems to be well known issue with this phone, and I too have faced it as an owner of this phone. The peculiar issue being that its not present in all phones and the there is way to identify if the phone will have this problem.

The problem is a software issue, where the phone's speaker gets muted. If you are taking the call, simply changing the volume solves the issue, however the same does not work for incoming calls and you are forced to cut and call back.

Many suggestions have been made on working around the problem but non seems to work. The problem is most common if you select the SILENT profile. Upgrading to the latest firmware 5.11 does not sort the problem, and actually it introduced the problem (as it was in my case).

The best advise i can give is to replace the phone, as it seems Nokia has not managed to fix the issue even after several firmware fixes.

i had the same problem. Just now, I took the phone battery off so I could find out my phone model. After I put battery back and turned the phone on, the problem just fixed by itself.

There might be a problem with your headset connector. Whenever your connect your headset volume and mic present in the phone will be cut-off then it is routed to headset piece. if the socket pins inside is jammed. then the phone will think headset is connected. you cannot hear anything nor transfer sound ot the caller.Check your headset slot. Contact service centre to replace new headset connector

I hate to say it but you might need to hard-reset the phone. If you choose to do so BACK UP YOUR DATA first. You can get a free program called "PIM Backup." This will let you back up all of your contacts, emails, etc. (all personal information). To hard reset, hold down both of the soft keys at the same time, then simultaneously use your stylus to hit the reset button. You should get a black screen with some text on it asking if you want to hard reset. Press the "send" key to confirm. If you don't get the screen right away keep trying as it doesn't work perfectly every time.

If you use Dsl as a internet provider make sure you have the filters on each phone. If you use cablevision and have a wireless connection make sure you chage the phone to a 5.2ghz because you might have the wireless router with the same ghz causing a coflict. This will also create loss. of internet connections then you use the phone
