Plug in ONLY the regular wired speakers and ONLY to the green port on the back.

Make sure they are powered up and the volume is about half way.

Ok now you need to call up ether the sound card application or preferably the windows volume control from the bottom toolbar.

Click Open Volume Control.

A box with sliders in should appear. make sure that volume control, wave, sw synth, aux, cd player, line in
are all about half way and that none of them have ticks in the box at the bottom.

If any of those are missing click options then properties from the top left and put a tick besides any that were missing (nothing else)
Now close the slider box.

Put a normal music cd in your cd/dvd player on the computer and set it to play with windows media player.
You should now have sound out of the speakers.

Double check that EVERYTHING is ok.

If there is still no sound check the control panle for any hardware issues and rectify those

There will be a little icon down in the bottom right hand corner of your screen that looks like a speaker. Click that and drag the volume meter up

I'd like to hook up 2 auto speakers, 4 ohms @50 watts each, in place of my 2- 4 ohm computer speakers with built in amp by sony, the little towers with volume knob. Do you think it will work ok?

it will work fine. the original equipment is 4 ohm but wattage is not stated. likely the original equipment is less than 50 watts. Therefore things should be fine. Start out at low volume and increase gradually. If you hear distortion, turn it down.

Can't hear the caller. He can hear me, though

When you cannot hear the other party talking usually this can be attributed to 2 things. The first being the volume of the unit in question you can always refer to your user guide on how to increase the volume. if after increasing the volume you still cant hear then the speaker of your unit is bad and needs to be replaced. This can always be done by any phone repair personnel.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

How to increase ringing volume and hearing volume

When you are receiving a call use the up/down or left/right rocker (the squarish thingy around the circular button in the middle) to increase/decrease the volume. This also works for the speaker volume if you have the speaker on.

Lower volume on center

when you feel that the center channel is low compared to the other speakers, you can go to set up, speaker set up and then level calibration. here, you can actually adjust the volume output per speaker up to +12. So in your case, try to increase the db of the center speaker and see if that will help you hear it better. Hope this helps.

Phone

hi,
this problem is due to very low volume of your loudspeaker...when u speak, they can hear u, but due to the low volume of the loud speaker, u can't hear them....so this is the solution: increase the volume of the loudspeaker, by increasing the volume keys at the side of the phone..

NOTE: you should do this when you are in a call....plz be particular in it or the volume won't increase...
