SOURCE: Cannot install Adobe Flash Player

Try removing it (in add/remove programs) and going directly to Adobe's web site and install again. It may be because of some type of interruption during the original attempt. Even going back to another site (after removal) that requires it and repeating the same steps as last time should work.

Check for updates or just update adoe flash player
Adobe Flash Player allows users to view videos made with Flash, a common online video format that can be viewed by both Mac and PC users.

Because technology is consistently emerging, Adobe frequently updates its Flash player. Downloading an update is free, and may be required in order to watch videos online.

You will need at least 128 MB of RAM available on your computer to update Flash player, and Internet Explorer version 6.0 or later for Windows XP, version 7.0 or later for Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 8.0 or later for Windows 7.

Open Internet Explorer and navigate to Adobe's Flash player download site.
Click the download link and follow the instructions on your screen.

Click "Allow" or "Install" if your security system asks if you want to download the file.
Avoid running other programs while the download is going on.

Flash player tests itself by showing you a brief video when the download is complete.
If you do not see this video, the player has not been successfully installed and you must try the download again.

Adobe Flash Player

What they do not tell you (Adobe), is that when you go to install the latest version of Flash Player, it Does Not automatically delete the older version.

The new version will not install if an older version is present.

Download, Install, and use the Adobe Flash Player Uninstall Tool.

Restart your computer.

Then go back to the Adobe Flash Player download page, download and install the latest version.
Restart your computer once more.

(No, going into Add/Remove Programs doesn't net you anything)

This is the Adobe Flash Player Uninstall Tool download page,

Yep. Same as the latest version page.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Under the heading > Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller Tech Note

Takes you to this page,

Go down to Number 1.
Left-click on the blue > uninstall_flash_player.exe, and click right on it.

A small window will come up > Opening uninstall_flash_player.exe
Click on Save File

Another small window will come up.
Very quickly look at the heading at the Top of the window.
This is where the file will download to.
Write it down.

In the heading at the top it may have;
1) Desktop
2) My Documents {Documents for Vista}
3) Downloads

If there is Desktop in the heading the file will download to your desktop screen

My Documents? Click on Start > My Documents

Downloads? Click on Start > My Documents > Double-click on > Downloads

When you see the file name > uninstall_flash_player.exe, Double-click on it.

Can't dowm load flash player

If you have problems installing Adobe Flash Player2.gif, follow the troubleshooting steps below. If one step does not correct the problem, move on to the next step. After each step, you may want to restart your machine to ensure that your changes take effect before moving on to the next step.

Uninstall all previous versions
Before you install Flash Player for any Windows browser, uninstall all previous versions. For instructions on removing the player, please see "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash2.gif Player plug-in and ActiveX control"
at this link...

Note:All applications must be closed before you run the Flash Player uninstaller. Quit all running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, and all Instant Messenger clients. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications which might possibly use Flash Player are still in memory.

After you have removed previous versions, you are ready to download and/or install Flash Player.
2. Download Adobe Flash Player Flash Player is available for download from the Adobe Flash Player Download Center.
3. Troubleshoot Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer Before installing Flash Player, please check the following browser settings:
Internet Explorer ActiveX settings Browser security settings should be chosen by you or by your system administrator. For single users who do not have an administrator, the Medium: Default Level allows you to view Flash content. For any Custom Level, ensure that both the "Download Signed ActiveX controls" and "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" options are set to "Prompt".

To change your security level:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Choose Tools > Internet Options.
  3. Select the Security tab.
  4. Select Custom Level.
  5. Find the section "ActiveX controls and plug-ins".
  6. Set ' Download Signed ActiveX Controls' to Prompt.
  7. Set 'Run ActiveX Controls And Plug-ins' to Prompt.
If you are having trouble installing, make sure that your Internet Explorer security level is not set to High or to a custom level that does not allow viewing of ActiveX controls.
Windows Vista installation failure On some Windows Vista systems Flash Player may be installed, but will not display Flash content. In some cases updating to the latest Flash Player using the included utility can correct the User Account Control settings that cause this problem.
To run the utility, find your installed Flash folder:
  • Right-click C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9d.exe
The letter changes with each Flash version, so may be "FlashUtilb.exe" or "FlashUtile.exe"
  • Select "Run as Administrator"
  • Follow the steps to complete the Flash Player installation
  • Restart your computer
Computer user permissions User permissions determine whether or not you are allowed to install ActiveX controls or plug-ins. If you don't have Administrator access to Windows NT, 2000, XP, or Vista you may not be able to install Flash Player successfully. Administrative privileges are required for the Windows system registry and for the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder

Can't watch youtube videos on psp

Unfortunately, the PSP doesn't support live-feed video. Javascript and Flash Player are required plug-ins on a variety of sites that host images and video. The PSP recognizes these requirements and looks for the plug-ins much like a desktop computer, but you will not be able to watch the videos on your PSP.

I have Flash 6 player and it was not playing swf files so I downloaded the 9 player. When I try to play flash files my computer still says it is using the 6 version player. How do I get the PC to recoginze...

Hey jlriley45,

In some instances, programs will install themselves without removing or updating information from previous versions that were already installed on a computer. To avoid such a problem, it is generally recommended that users uninstall these previous versions before installing the new one.

In order to uninstall Flash Player 6, there are a couple of things that you can do. First, Adobe has developed an uninstaller program that you can download from their main support website:

You'll want to make sure that you quit all other programs before running the uninstaller, as well as make sure that you do not have an anti-virus/anti-spyware program running in the background. Run the program, and follow the step-by-step instructions that appear on your screen.

Once this is done, you may also wish to check the Installed Programs list for your computer. This can typically be accessed in most versions of Windows by clicking on the "Start" bar on your desktop, choosing "Settings," then "Control Panel." After you're in the control panel, double-click on the option that says "Add/Remove Programs" to open the list of currently installed programs. If Flash Player still appears in this menu, highlight it and click on the "Remove" option to the right of the program name.

After you've uninstalled the program you should be able to download and install Flash Player 9 with minimal fuss. However, in the event that you still cannot get the program to function correctly, you may wish to visit Adobe's product support site for more information:

Hope this helps you out.
