If you actually mean the power light, that is supposed to blink when you plug it in and it is charging.
If you mean the one in the viewfinder, that is an error condition, and an error message is supposed to show up in the back image display viewer. There may not be enough battery voltage left to display, so plug it into the AC adapter to be sure.
It takes over 7 hours to charge, so did you leave it charge overnight?
But while the original battery is chargable, disposable replacements are not. Here is what the manual says:
{ ... The supplied battery is a Li-ion battery. It charges while in the
camera using the supplied charger. The camera can also use a Duracell
CP1 disposable Li battery, which has the same form factor as the
supplied Li-ion cell. HP claim the Li-ion cell will provide power for
approximately 200 shots under "average" use and 100 shots with
"extensive use of the LCD and flash".
Charge time for the battery using
the supplied charger and in-camera charging is 5-7 hrs for a fully
depleted battery. In the optional docking station, charging takes
2.5-3.5 hrs and using the optional rapid charger, charging takes 1-2
hrs. ... }
Connect the camera to the charger. If it works, while connected to the charger, the problem is either with the battery or the battery contacts. Make sure that battery contacts are clean.
This camera not charged via PC, you can charge the battery only with wall charger(comes with box). When camera is plugged to PC, you can´t use it as a camera, only as a memory card. You can watch your stuff in PC( PC recognise a camera as a flash memory, no more).
So, this is normal..Charge your camera with wall charger(Full charge Red light not flash!, if light flashed camera is charging) Unplug and use as usually!
get the adapter plug it in,, in the camera that little hole next to the usb,,, just like u will charge the battery, then turn the camera on,, just your camera lens will be back to normal,, hope i helped ya out.
I've just spent 30 minutes on the phone (premium rate) to HP re this problem. The solution was as follows:
switch the camera off
take the battery and any memory cards out
press the end of a paperclip into a small hole (which you can see with the battery compartment open)
remove the paperclip after 10 seconds
put the battery and memory card back in and the problem should be sorted.
HP also suggest upgrading the camera firmware (which you can do via their website)
