Hi,

It sounds like one of you're screens has broken. What you have discribed is generally what happens one either the top or bottom LCD screen has broken.

If it is the top screen the bottom screen will flash for 1/2 a second and the DS turns off.

If it is the bottom screen the DS should still turn on but with no reaction from the screens. (the Ds will shut down immediatley after turning on)

SOURCE: nintendo ds lite will not turn on, when trying to charge the orange lite blinks once.

after researching this for a while, i heard that it is because the fuses have blown inside the ds. you can try to fix it but it is risky.
good luck!

SOURCE: My DS lite turned off

It might be the charging port. I had this problem with my DS and sent it to www.videogame911.com. They fixed it fast, had it back less then a week.

You're Nintendo DS Lite might need to be charged. If you do not have a charger, you will have to go to a local game store and purchase one.

My son took game out of console without powering off now screen is frozen and I cannot even power off have tried other games screen stays the same

Hi.

You will need to remove the battery to get the DS Lite to turn off.

Get yourself a Philips screwdriver and a small flat headed screwdriver, then close the lid on the DS. Next turn the DS upside down with card slot facing towards you.
On the right hand side of the DS you will see a Philips screw head near the bottom, unscrew that screw and remove the battery cover. This will expose the battery itself. Use the flat headed screwdriver to gently pry the battery out from the right hand side.
Once the battery is out the DS will shut down. Reinsert the battey again and screw the cover back on.
Switch the DS on and it should work properly again. If it freezes again just repeat these steps.

Nintendo ds clock not working

i had some trouble with my ds, and so i killed the battery. you have to stop charging it and leave it on with full sound to down the battery faster. keep doing this untill when you turn it on it shuts off by it's self imediately. leave it alone for a week or so and then check and see if you can turn it back on. if it won't even light up for a moment when you hit power you've done it right.

WARNING: this will erase all saved data for all games on the ds.

you can now plug it into the wall and let it charge for at least 5mins. keep it pulgged in and turn it on. it should show the settings menu for birthday, time, etc. just like when you first took it out of the box.

this will reset the ds to factory settings, and should alow you to change the time.

NOTE: only do this if the time is REALLY bothering you.

My DS lite is turning on then off

How did you break off the charging light?

Anyway, you probably need a new battery. The battery loses it's capability to hold a charge after each time it is charged so all you need is a new battery.

Nds lite doesnt power off

Dear Cornjo,

Your situation has baffled me completly. Here are some solutions that might help you:
  • How old is your DS/DS Lite? If it is less than 1 year old or if you have a gurantee for more than 1 year, you can take it back to the shop.
  • Try taking out the battery and not putting it back for at least 24 hours
  • Charge your DS COMPLETLY and do not use it for a while

Nintendo DS Lite won't turn on

My kids did the same thing. What I did to get it to work was to push back on the top and hold it turn it on. If it comes on then turns off after you let it go get 2 rubber bands and put the 1st. one on the top left down to the bottom right. The 2nd. one goes from the top right right to the bottom left. Then keep turning it on while moving the top to find the sweet spot.

Nintendo DS Lite shuts off randomly.

I'm a certified electronic technician and I must say NDS internal screen ribbon connectors are junk! Basically The ribbon connectors are so sketchy that it is not recommended to ever unclip them, if you do there's a good chance it will ever work again once reconnected due to how the connector pins slightly crimp into the ribbon pads.

When a NDS boots up the the onboard firmware constantly tests the LCD screen connections, if there is a break in the connection the NDS will shut down. If your NDS randomly turns off, fails to boot, or powers of when you move the hinge it is most likely the ribbon (flex film) or ribbon connector has failed. The only option to to replace the affected LCD screen.
