DVD Recorder is ruining the DVDs

Greetings - thank you for your time.

The LG DVD Recorder (LG DR1F9H) I have will record the shows from my DVR but then when the disc is ejected it is not able to be read or recognized when I put it back it.

This appears to have started when I used the memory card slot to view some digital pictures, but I'm not sure it may have still briefly worked after that. I thought perhaps it was some simple MENU option that got messed up but I can't make sense of it.

Thanks again,

Jon

Hi after recording the disc you should finalize the disc,
finalizing fixes the recordings in place so that the disc can be played back on a regular dvd player or computer equipped with dvd rom.
finalising video mode disc creates a menu screen for navigating the disc.this is sccessed by pressing MENU/LIST or TITLE.

CAUTION;
once you have finalized a dvd-r and dvd+r disc, you cannot sdit or record anything elseon that disc exept dvd+rw.however you can record and edit a dvd-rw disc by chosing(unfinalize) option.

1.select finalize option and then press rightarrow key
2.pree enter while(finalize) is selected.finalize menu appears.
3.select (ok) then press enter.the recorder starts finalizing the disc
note;if(disc protect),the finalize is not available.to finalize set(disc protect off).

I WAS JUST TRYING TO GET A MANUAL FOR AN LG DVD DR198H RECORDER

I located an owners manual for an LG DVD recorder for a model DR1F9H here is the link for the free download. I have been comparing the DR1F9H and the DR198H and they appear to be the same model or very similar. Hopefully this will allow you to do what you need.

Record DVDs frrom Cable box DVR

Buy a recorder that records both +/-R and double layer disks.
I haven't seen a Comcast dvr but you should connect it to the svideo out port of the dvr to the svideo in of the recorder and the audio out to the audio in. If the Comcast doesn't have svideo use the video ports instead

PioneerDVR-225 recorder

A lot of the functionality you are wanting is tied to the remote that you have misplaced. You can go to the Pioneer support site and order a new remote, though it is like $30.

As for wiring options to record, it depends on the inputs and outputs that are available on your television.
- Ideally, connect VCR to TV input "1", connect DVR output to TV input "2", and conect TV output to DVR. This will help you avoid any copy protection issues you run into, but not all TV sets have both audio and video output.
- If you don't have TV outputs, connect VCR out to DVR in, and then DVR out to TV in. This will definitely work, but you will have to have the DVR turned on to watch a VCR tape.
