Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Checkerboard display. I have had my TV for about 3 or four years now, so the warranty is over.  I had it stored for about a year so it really doesn't have too many hours on it.  I left it off for a while about two months or so and when I went to turn it on one day I got the black and white checkerboard pattern.  I turn it off and unplugged it for a while and then tried it again a few days later.  It worked fine.  I turned it off and started to watch tv again the next day and it worked temp. then started having a vertically rolling picture then about 5 minutes later went back to the checkerboard picture and hasn't come back since.  I have been told that it is some kind of video board or something.  I have an A+ cert so I could replace it if neccesary, but I don't even know where it is, what it looks like or how to get to it once I find it.  Any help would be great thank you.

Re: Checkerboard display.

Checkboard pattern is generated internally by the light or optical engine.. when the signal is blocked from the signal board. the optic engine generates these test patterns. rolling piture also indicates a signal board problems.

Soniq 42'' QSP424T keeps freezing

I have been repairing Plasma Tvs for some 3 years now and have found most of the problems caused are by Capacitors.Once again Soniq are no different to the others. The fault is on the main Video Control Pcb.Replace Capacitor C529 which is a 470mfd25v.This cap is mounted next to an inductor coil at the top middle of the pcb. This Pcb is the one which has the tuner and all inputs on it.

Red ghosting on images that are not closeup

1. Power off -- let bulb cool.
2. Display - 5 - VOL+ - Power (in quick sequence) to display service menu.
3. Go into the user menu and set auto revision back to auto.
4. Put an image on the screen that shows the problem. I always found the edges of a 4:3 aspect ratio signal displayed the ghosting very well on my set.
5. Use 2 to scroll through the categories to find D GM TG
6. Use 1 to scroll through items in D GM TG to find V POS D
7. Write down current value.
9. Use 3 and 6 to change the value to minimize the ghosting. You should only need to move it up or down a value or two.
10. Press Mute - Enter to save the changes.
11. Power off and let the bulb cool.

Possible red burn in

Less than 2 years old? GOOD! the optical block on that set has a 2 year warranty. You will need to pay labor to have a tech replace it. But it is almost certainly a bad optical block; I have seen your complaint on other sets of the same model.

Night and indoor scenes are too dark

If the set is less then 2 years old it should still be under warranty. As I understand there is a 2 year warranty on this set. There is some adjustments to adjust on and inside this DLP TV set but they are not customer adjustments and should not be attempted without a service manual. They are on a service menu for the tech to access and adjust. My best suggestion would be to contact the manufacture from a contact number in the owners manual or from the store where you purchaced the set from or from a number I found for a main contact. Main support number 800-294-6400. Good Luck
