You don't say which model Digimax you have. Hopefully this will cover most models.
First, make sure the menu is not being displayed on the LCD monitor, otherwise you'll just move around in the menu screen. You must also be in photo record mode, ready to take a picture (not in playback or movie mode).
There is a button (usually on the left side of the direction pad) that looks like a lightning bolt. I can't remember the exact number of times you must press it, but the display should indicate that the flash is turned off as one of the options as you cycle through them.
Depending on your model, the modes are likely to be Auto Flash (bolt with an "A" icon), Auto with Red-eye reduction ("eye" icon), fill flash - always on ("bolt" icon), Slow sync (bolt with an "S" icon), and flash off (bold with a line through it icon).
Also depending on your model, you may not be able to turn the flash off depending on which recording mode you're in. For instance, you can't turn the flash off if you're in the "Backlight" recording mode.
