LG VX8350 Cellular Phone Logo

Had 3 of this vx8350 from verizon break on the same right hinge.

I've had this phone replaced by verizon 3 times and now they won't replace it without paying $50.00 for it. Even they admit that it is a defect but the only way to get a new phone from verizon is to renew my contract. Unbelievable! If anybody knows where I can file a complaint against LG or Verizon for their policy, please let me know. I shouldn't have to extend or renew my contract if the problem is the phone. thanks

I have the same issue and am considering cancelling my Verizon service because they won't replace it without paying $50.

LG vx8350r hinge is broken on right side. Should I look for repair parts or a replacement phone? My wife like a simple phone and would keep this model if I can get it fixed

My VX8350 broke on the right side too. Actually it cracked and the pieces, 2 if I remember correctly, kind of were just hanging there (in other words I did not loose any pieces of plastic). I did a very careful repair and it has held now for about 1.5 years with no problems and I've even dropped the phone about 4 times or more since the repair.

I used the CA glue, (cyanoacrylate glue or some know it as instant glue). But be careful so you do not glue your hands to the phone. Use VERY LITTLE glue cause it WILL wick into places you do not want it to go. Lastly, you have to index the metal piece in the hinge (use a hefty pair of tweezers) before gluing so the spring with work correctly and hold the phone either open or closed. If you error on the indexing, try to error on the side which will keep your phone tightly closed when closed and just barely short of fully open when open. That way you won't be catching the closed phone on things with it hanging partially open. It doesn' t cause any problems being just a tiny bit short of fully open.

So, open the phone, carefully tilt the two halves to expose the metal hinge, index the hinge, carefully rotate the two halves back to their proper position and carefully test the opening and closing action. If it's good, or good enough, then put the chunk(s) that broke loose back into position and while holding everything in place put a TINY bit of CA on one of the cracks. This should setup very quickly (hence the name instant glue) and if you can still remove your finger from the phone, do so, and put a tiny bit of CA on any other areas or other cracks where the glue did not wick to. Remember to use very little glue for this or you'll be sorry and your phone won't work. If you did this properly, your phone will now open and close like it did before...or very close to it. Good luck.

Answer LG without flipping it open.

By default, it's set to "any key" which means when you press any key on the keypad, calls will be received. If it's then go to call settings and set the answer options to "any key" and save the settings.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I want to use the VX8350 as a passive GPS receiver.

You can't do it without service. If your account is closed due to lack of payment, the phone will be frozen until you make it right.

Right Hinge Broken

Here is the response that I got from Verizon customer service today via e-mail. I, too, have the broken hinge on a new LG VX8350:

"According to our records a limited number of LG VX8350 devices may exhibit a cracked hinge or stress cracks on the front housing from normal operation. LG determined hinge / stress cracking is due to a production issue with the hinge. LG has implemented corrective action to resolve issue in future production and devices repaired by LG."

They are replacing the phone with a certified LG. All in all, I am very pleased with their commitment to customer service. I would suggest contacting Verizon directly and letting them know that you are aware of the hinge problems.

Hope this helps.

Hinge broke on LG VX8350 Phone

You need to march right back to Verizon and demand a new phone. If you do a search on the internet, there are multitudes of people with the exact same broken hinge problem. This is a design defect and should be replaced no questions asked. Verizon knows about this problem. I had my phone less than 6 months when my right hinge just broke...no dropping or other damage. I went in and they replaced it free of charge - because they knew about the problem. That was just a month ago and my right hinge broke again today...one month later. I am going to demand a new phone or they will be facing a class action law suit. Who ever told you this had to be filed with insurance and that you have to pay $50 did not know what they were talking about. Do what I am going to do and print off all of the complaints and present them to Verizon.

I lost the little plastic cover that keps dust and debris out of the port that the charger plugs into on my LG VX8350 portable phone. Can I buy a replacement?

I've had my phone for over 1 yr without that little thing. Never had a problem. Call local Verizon store they can tell you.

How to repair broken hinge of my Verizon LG Vx8350

I was able to take apart a VX8350 I have with a broken screen. I don't see any way to replace just the hinges with replacing the whole top part of the phone including the screen. The ribbon cable from the screen runs through the hinge part into the main assembly of the phone. It appears the cable can't be removed without cutting it.

How do i Remove the sim card from LG VX8350

I'm holding my VX8350 right now, its a new one since I dropped (at least 20 sum times) my first one and broke the right hinge too. And unfortunately this phone does not have a sim card. If you end up getting this phone then I'd HIGHLY recommend getting the rubberized case. It makes holding onto it much easier!
