I'm trying to connect my Ps3 to my USB Mobile Broadband Modem as well. I had one guy tell me to plug the USB modem into the computer and then run an ethernet cable between the ps3 and the pc... but I have no idea where to go from there. No settings on my ps3 will seem to pick up the connection. And I can't just plug the USB modem into ps3??

Yes you can! After 10 days of trial and error I finaly cracked this problem on sunday. Since then I've had several lag free hours on COD4 and RFOM with smooth play and no dropped connections. Now I'm not a techie but I will explain the best I can. I use 3 mobile broadband. First open your Network Connections. You will see the 3 modem, ignore this for now. Further down you will see 2 ethernet connections, Local are connection, and 1394 connection. Right click one of these and Bridge the connection. Then open the properties of your 3 modem and under Advanced click on internet connection sharing. Install your ethernet cable from the back of your computer directly to the PS3. On your PS3 network settings search for the new connection. On testing it should work. Hey presto your online. I use win xp on my system and it usualy works fine. Sometimes you get a DNS error, keep retrying, if no luck, restart your pc, connect your 3 service and you should be good to go. Hope this helps, good luck

Why don't you try opening the disc tray of your PS3, putting your nose in the hole in the tray and press the close button. This will not help you to connect to the internet but it will be quite funny :)

How to connedt a ps3 to a 3 broadband using a laptop and an ethernet cable
1 go to manage network connection
2 right click on 3 broadbnd and go down to properties
3 in properties goto sharing and allow other networks to use that connection
4 on the playstation goto setup a network put all setting on auto the only setting you need to change is the MTU value it will be set at 1500 you need to lower it to any thing between 1400 and 1460 for it to work

Why are you trying to connect a 3G modem/router to another broadband router?

They are alternative ways of getting to the Internet, you have to choose which route you want to pick from the client (computer end).

They are NOT compatible.

I just bought this router and am trying to get it connect with a Verison wirelss USB mobile broadband. How can I connect it to my computer and an Xbox 360?

For Verizon i found that Currently, the DIR-412 Mobile Broadband Wireless Router is the only D-Link router that is 3G compatible. The DIR-412 supports 3G USB adapters complying with HSUPA/HSDPA/EV-DO/TD-SCDMA networks and works with most major cellular carriers (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Rogers, Telus, Bell, etc).
D-Link routers empower gamers to easily connect their Microsoft Xbox to network and experience lag-free online gaming. All you need is a D-Link router to go along with your broadband connection and Xbox Live subscription and you can go head to head with friends and adversaries from around the world.

The D-Link DI-624 Wireless Broadband Router, DI-614+ Wireless Broadband Router, and the D-Link DI-604 Broadband Router have all passed the tests for compatibility with Microsoft Xbox Live with specific firmware. Just download the specific compatible firmware listed below to your D-Link router before connecting to Xbox Live.

  • Click here to upgrade your firmware.
  • Click here for Xbox Live setup instructions with a router.
  • For Xbox Live support, please visit www.xbox.com.

If you have a cross over cable you could connect your PS3 to your Laptop via the Ethernet port and choose internet connection sharing on the 3G device on your laptop, then just make sure the PS3 and the laptop ethernet settings are set to auto detect settings (DHCP).

No internet access with my Dell 1184 wireless braodband router- does the PC need software for this to operate? connection is cable modem out to broadband router "internet" then broadband router LAN line to...

Yes, the cable modem connects to the router and then you can connect wireless or by using the lan ports on the router with a cable. If you have security setup on the router you will need the passcode or you will need to push the reset button on the router to clear it to factory settings. Its not required but it is best to use the software that comes with the hardware

Connecting my PS3 to the internet using a 3G Verizon Broadband

Unfortunately the PS3 will not be recieving internet through this device, the USB connectors are set up to only work with PC or MAC specifically for that reason that gamers cannot use their Xbox or Playstation, and that is because Verizon offers a Wireless router cell phone data device which costs almost a thousand dollars, definately not worth it.

    Connecting to 3g mobile broadband

Easiest way is to get a 3G router like a Cradlepoint CTR350. You can then connect either wirelessly or wired. Otherwise you need to enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on a Windows machine and run an Ethernet cable from your computer to the PS3
