Recently bought Acer 5810t laptop. the screen has suddenly gone black. cannot turn it off or continue working on it. Any ideas please. Important for my work
Press and hold the Power button for 45 seconds to turn the laptop off.
Then, remove the battery from the battery compartment and clean the metal contacts.
Next, reinsert the Battery and try to turn it ON.
If the display still doesn't come then you may try connecting an external display to check if the Computer is able to produce display and the issue is with the backlight of the LCD screen.

Could be your lcd backlight. Try to turn it on and take a torch and shine into the screen, If you see a very faint picture your lcd backlight has gone and needs to be replaced.

Usually answered in minutes!
COuldnt do anything with it but have now recharged battery and held on/off button in for quite a few seconds and it shut down. Switched it back on and it runs fine.
when you start your laptop does it boot ? I realize the screen is black but does the laptop stay running?
