Question about Acer TravelMate 290 Notebook
Evo suddenly ceased to start. When connecting the power (with batts or w/o), after a few second the start up lights come on, but nothing else happens. When you pressthe power button, there will be a minute click (almost pop), the lights go out, and after a few seconds, it will do the same. The HD is fine. Tried it in another machine and it checks out. Put a HD in the Evo... same symptoms. Have tried three power supplies, so not there. Ideas? All seem intact on the inside as far as connections. No known drops or bumps. This happened before, and after checking the HD and connections, it started up fine, but suddenly, the failure came back.
The only thing you can do is to check to see if the installed memory is making contact. To do that, open up the access panel, unclip the memory and then reinstall it. If that doesn't fix it, you're into a trip to the shop.
