Question about Sony HDR-HC1 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Touch panel menu unaccessible

The buttons on the touch panel do not work correctly. The manual poses calibration of the LCD screen as a solution, however, the menu button necessary to do that does not work. When pressed, it gives the volume setting instead. So calibration is not an option. The reset button does not reset the personal menu buttons, so that is also not an option.
I am a bit amazed that their is no program reset possibility on the HDR-HC1

I have the exact same problem. The menu button takes me to the volume settings. So there's no getting to the correct screen to recalibrate the touch screen. Some touch screen functions work, but many do not - I can't delete anything off the memory stick, set the date or time, get back out of some menus without turning the camera off, etc.

I've tried disconnecting the battery and the power, then turning it on to change the settings to the factory settings, but this didn't help at all.

I have the same problem and now the LCD screen has gone very dark. Saw another post that says the flex wire is cut.

had the same problem and did the same thing as suggested in the best solution. I have the menu all right, but again, the cable needs to be replaced

LCD screen not working. Pressing P-Menu takes me to volume as has been stated by another person. Evidently, this is a problem with this camera. Can't access menu to do anything. Reset button does not offer any fixes. Followed all of the instructions in the manual on how to recalibrate LCD.

I have a similar problem. First the left hand buttons quit working. Then the touch screen started going out. Doing the flip screen flat against camera thing helped the touch screen. I'm guessing the ribbon cable is going out. Hopefully there's an inexpensive fix.

I've got the same problem ... LCD touch screen didn't work, then the screen went dark -- it's the ribbon cable. If you invert the screen flush against the camcorder, you should still be able to access the touch-screen menus (at least mine still work that way) -- to film, you have to use the eyepiece. But, ultimately, the ribbon connection - which is noted for failure -- has to be replaced.

Me too! The camera was working perfectly until yesterday and when I turned it on today, it selectively ignores some buttons on the screen - and pressing the "Menu" gives me nothing. I've tried to reset it through that pin hole button, but it just resets the machine back to its default.

I wonder where could we get
a new flex flat cable to replace this faulty one. And I mean it: I'm not
willing to spend 300 bucks and send it for someone to fix it. I rather do it myself. On eBay perhaps? I found a user selling the whole gizmo: a flexcable WITH the LCD and touchscreen. He asks US$145 for it.

I had the same issue and I found that true it is the ribbon cable issue.

I found that turning the screen around or swtiching around to make the screen align with the body it works..!
but it is a bad sign! The life of the camera is running out!

When i turn my 3ds on you can see all the top screen but not the bottom screen

Plug it into the charger first.try calibrating the touch screen.
you can get to the calibration menu without touching the touch screen. First, turn off your system. Hold down L+R+X. While holding these buttons down, press the power button. This should take you to the touch screen calibration menu. (See Nintendo 3DS Operation Manual, Page 15)
If it doesn't work, you need to replace the bottom screen.

please note that all games dont require the bottom screen

My touchscreen doesnt work on my Ikasu 8gb media player for some reason anyone know how I can fix this?

If the touch screen does not work, it may be because it is out of calibration.
You can go into settings and navigate using the buttons to recalibrate the touchscreen.
Slide the on/off slider briefly. It should give you a menu.
Use the - button to scroll down to calibrate.
Push the M button
This gives the calibration screen.
Press the small square that appears in each corner, and finally in the center.
This should give you the touch screen, hopefully working.

There is a manual and other information here.

DCS T70 LCD does work properly .I mean to say if i try to use one function another function gets started instead of desired function

Hi,

Based on the information you've provided, it seems that the touch screen panel is not aligned. You can try Calibrating the touch screen to resolve the issue.
Calibration option is in the Main Settings 1 Menu of the Camera. Calibration option enables you to perform calibration when the touch panel buttons do not react at the appropriate points where you touch. You can use the paint pen, touch the X mark displayed on the screen. The X mark moves on the screen. Once the calibration option is finished successfully, the touch screen should work.
The Calibration option can be done only if the Menu is accessible.
You can also perform a power reset before performing the Calibration.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.
This should resolve the issue.

Thanks for using Fixya.

The touch screen is not working. After resetting

If the buttons on the touch-panel LCD screen do not respond correctly or do not work at all, adjust the LCD screen calibration. Consult the instruction manual if specific information is required to perform this procedure.
NOTE: The touch-panel LCD screen cannot be calibrated if it is rotated.

Touch LCD points not opeating properly

How often have I heard the phrase - Read the Manual - however I admit to a slight case of panic as I have an important bit of videoing coming up soon....however as the Manual says... The solution to LCD touch screen hotspots not working is re-calibration.
With the Sony DCR-HC22E (also the HC17E/HC19E and HC 21E still Digital Camera this is achieved by
Eject the Tape
Disconnect any Connecting Cables except AC Adaptor or the Handycam Station
Slide the Power Switch Down to turn on the Play/Edit Lamp WHILE pressing the Disp/Batt Info for about 5 seconds
You should then get a screen with a cross in one corner
(The manual recommends touching this with the corner of a memory stick however I GENTLY touched it with a biro. In my case a further 2 crosses appeared and after touching them the LCD Was Re Calibrated.
I re-started my Camera and all the touch spots ( Fast Forward, Menu etc all worked perfectly) Remember you cannot Re-Calibrate with LCD rotated
