I upgraded my hp pavilion vz5000 for xp to vista

The problem is most likely a driver issue. XP drivers usually aren't compatible with Vista. Also, I'm goin to take a shot in the dark here and say that you meant to say zv5000 because there is no vz.

I'd give you an exact link to the driver you need but I don't know which version of Windows Vista you're running.

Go to that link and select what version of Vista you have and it should point you in the right direction.
