E-machine will not power up even after replacing the power supply

If power does not come to hard disk, cd/dvd etc. then replace the mother board. And if you can put on the cpu and there is no display, then replace the RAM module.

Same problem as bloodthinners post on Apr 20,2008

Yes the power supply akai supplied with the tv is kind of weak so it usualy gets warm because it has trouble keeping up with the energy demand which sometimes leads to tv failure because the tv keeps trying to draw more power and the power supply cant keep up so the tv may eventually quit worse case senario because it is trying so hard to draw more power which causes it to fry the tvs circut board out mine does the same thing it is normal. i just went and bought a aftermarket bigger power supply and the tv works better and the black box stays cooler all you need to do is bring you power supply to radio shack and they will see what you need. Hope this helps

No power

Hate to say it. But down at my shop, we have repaired a good 200+ eMachines in the last two years... all with the same ailments.

Usually what we find, is a bad power supply. That's only the first part.... in most cases the mainboard is damaged as well and needs to be replaced.

If you look at your power supply, it is probably a Bestec brand. While you have the cover off, look over the mainboard with a flashlight. You may find a blown ITE chip, or even some hot spots or small burn spots on the southbridge chip. Which is located usually towards the bottom right side of the board if your point of view is with the computer sitting upright. It will be about one inch square in size.

If you have a space power supply, or know someone with one, you can try that. We've not had much luck replacing just the power supply. In a few rare cases it solved the problem. But in most, a motherboard replacement was in order as well.

Best we can figure, the power supply fails and takes the mainboard with it. The only commonality among each one, was the Bestec power supply. Since some of these were Intel based and some were AMD based.
