Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer

Spin cycle... For a few months now, the load of clothes I take out to put into the dryer have been extremely wet. I finally got around to look around the problem, and it seems that there is no spin cycle on this washing machine, the water drains but the basket (not sure what it's called) doesn't spin. I looked some solutions up on the internet prior to this, and possible causes included the motor coupler, transmission, timer, motor, and a few other things that I have no knowledge about (centrifugal switch, water level switch, pulley). I took the machine apart and checked the coupler, it seemed fine, it didn't look worn down so I checked that off. I figured the motor and transmission were fine because the machine still agitates and changes cycles, but I might be wrong on that (just assumptions). I don't really know much about the timer but I read that it could possibly be loose wires, so I made sure they were tight in there but still, no spinning. Can I still fix this problem on my own or do I need to contact a professional?

I think you are correct. I can't seem to be able to take the spanner nut off (I've tried pipe wrenches, vice grips, pliers, hammer + small screwdriver combination), but I see the shaft spinning but the tub doesn't. The shaft barely spins, and when I get a good grip of it, doesn't spin (indicating a lot of wear?). Since I can't get the spanner rod off, I can't get a good look at the mounting block, what tool can I use to get the spanner rod off?

Sounds like the spin tub mounting block is stripped to me. Remove agitator. Remove spanner nut holding spin tub to basket drive. The block is the aluminum piece joining the basket drive shaft. The aluminum block has two square indentions that sit down on two tabs formed on the basket drive shaft. The soft metal wears out on the block and the drive shaft isnt attached to the spin tub anymore. An easy way to test is remove agitator and put in spin. See if shaft spins but not tub spin.Let me know what you find

I use a combination of an adjustable wrench (use the handle piece and place in a groove in the nut) and then use a hammer to beat the nut off. Its standard lefty loosy threads. Hope this helps. Also i think your gearcase is fine its the agitator shaft that you are grabbin i believe (you couldnt be grabbin the spin tube).

Will not spin

The final cycle of any washing machine, including Whirlpool units, is the spin cycle. During this cycle, water is sucked out of the load, preparing the clothes for the dryer. If your spin cycle isn't working properly, your clothes will be extremely wet, which increases the length of the drying process. Troubleshoot, and repair this problem yourself to save money

My machine is spinning, but clothes are still very wet, have to drain and spin at least twice to get them dry enough to put in the dryer

If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.

My daughter in put a load of wet clothes (not completely finished spin cycle). Now dryer doesn't heat the clothes but seems to have all other functions.

Try running the dryer empty to see if the elements are heating. With the weight of wet clothes it is possible to trip the overloads.

the problem is your spin program is normal but the machine could not do its job usually there is broken pin clucth under the spinning tube and sometimes the spin gear.this is due to overlload problem. you should brought the machine to your trusted machine repairer as this cost you around US 100-200 in comparison if you buy new one

LG front load washer/ clothes still wet after final spin

The heavy jacket prevented the washer from spinning at a rapid pace, so I added a heavy bathrobe to absorb some of the water and to balance the load. The washer then spun very quickly and drained out all the water.
