Question about Fantom Vacums Lighting Canister Vacuum

1 Answer

Fantom Canister The vacuum head light keeps going on and off as well as the suction.  I actually purchased a new head, at the recommendation of their service dept., and the problem is still happening w/the new head.  Any suggestions.

Thank you - we did purchase a new hose unit right away (after a new head unit) and the vacuum works very well now. Even though we followed the tech's instructions (from the company) and everything pointed to the head being broken it was actually the hose unit - which meant we spent more money than we needed to. It's a nice vacuum w/plenty of power etc. - as long as it's working.

It sounds like you have a hose problem. You should be aware that the Fantom company went bankrupt many years ago. I know that the Fantom name was bought by another company and there may be Chinese units sold under that name, but service and parts availability is an issue. There may be an issue with the power delivery to the powerhead. This is through the hose, from the canister connection and down the wand assy. You should check the continuity from the canister down to the powerhead.

Need a new power head

your best bet would be to try Ebay or something like that. These units were discontinued late 1999/early 2000 and no parts are available for it.

my best suggestion in this case is to invest what you would spend on the powerhead into a newer cannister. Some of the newer units have better filtration and suction than the lightning cannister does.

Need 3' stick of plastic between vac head and vac switch. Lower end of stick will not stay in head.

Hello,

Unfortunately the Fantom vacuum company has gone out of business, and no parts are available any more for these machines. Actually James Dyson (Dyson Vacuums) had some part in this company, and due to poor designs (mostly in their uprights) the company didn't last and ended up bankrupt.

You may be able to find someone selling the machine on Ebay, but other then this the only parts that are still available are aftermarket filters, and belts.

I hope this helped you,

Chris J.
