I've got a Samsung AV-R720 surround sound system hooked up to a 46" high def Samsung TV.
Everything worked great for the first 15 months. Recently the front left speaker began crackling. The speaker test tone works fine, and the problem is definitely not the speaker itself.
Any ideas?
THIS RECEIVER IS JUNK. I had the same problem with my receiver and Samsung gave me a new unit as it was under warranty. 8 months later the replacement which was brand new did the same thing. Samsung tells me it is my problem now. I should have demanded another unit. the best advice I have is not to buy this product. Samsung won't help you when it breaks and it will break. Nobody seems to know how to fix it.......
The same exact thing just happened to my AV-R720, it's like a digital clipping noise that over 2-3 hours just appeared and got worse although mine is 18 months oldits still pretty annoying - sound happens through right channel on heaphone out too, so its coming from the amp....
I have also had this issue. Twice. Fortunately it was under warranty both times. The repair guys said they had to replace the main board. This is NOT an issue of being too close to the amp/tv.
Try changing the location of the centre speaker away from the amp and/or tv... the speaker placement seems to cause some problems for the tv speakers and perhaps the centre speaker is bothering your left speaker as well...

I brought it in to an authorized repair shop and the guy said it would be $75 parts and $90 labour to fix. I'm hesitant to throw good money after bad.
I'll probably just buy a standalone amp and re-use the AV-R720's speakers for the time being.
