Question about Zebra Z Series Z6M Thermal Label Printer

1 Answer

Z6M printing issue

I recently replaced an older Zebra label printer with a Zebra Z6M. The printer had 6" x 4" wide ribbon and labels in it. I replaced the 6" with labels and a ribbon that are 4" x 6 " wide. Now when a label is printed, the ribbon is coming out of the printer with the label. It is not much of a problem if only 1 label is printed but causes problems when multiple labels are printed. I compared the ribbon/label layout with that in another Z6M and they appear identical. What could be causing the ribbon to be coming out with the label? The 6" labels have no issue when printing. I am probably just missing something pretty basic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why would bar code print both vertically and

This is I think due to the data being sent to your printer. On a Z4m the width is 4 inch and whatever is beyond is not printed. On your Z6M the coordinates are valid so your printer will print the code.

I have a zebra z6mplus the ribbon keeps breaking

You may have your contrast set too high. If it breaks as it feeds under the printhead (while printing) your contrast may be set too high.
You also could have a ribbon spindle issue. Are both ribbon spindles turning?

First clean the sensor tag and sensor head open and tape. Then perform a calibration label pressing the PAUSE and FEED buttons and turn on the printer, release the keys until it starts to move the label. Wait until you are finished and ready to print.
