Cant get the laptop screen to come up the snooze button light is on

Try holding the power button down for 5 seconds this will fully turn off the laptop - then try switching it back on. Also try removing the battery then switching it back on, hopefully this will clear the fault.
You could also check the keyboard. If you have a faulty keyboard, it maybe that the key that puts the laptop to sleep is faulty. You may need to disconnect the laptop keybaord and use a USB one - if the fault goes away then the fault is with the laptop keyboard.

Hope this helps.

Took laptop keyboard and hard drive out. Had to clean keybaord. After replacing keyboard the unit will not start. The power light comes on but nothing happens. Any suggestions.

Welcome to Fixya

Try to drain the remaining static energy of the board. Take out the battery and unplug the power adapter from yor computer. Press and hold the power button for 15 secs. Put everything back in and power on the computer.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Keys qazwsx12 do not work on the keyboard for my acer aspire 5920 laptop

i would suggest you get a new keyboard. Has anything been spilt on it. The keys you have said, sound like a cluster that has gone within the keyboard. The keyboard shouldnt be to much. You can take a keyboard out of a laptop either by unscrewing some screws on the back with a little keybaord next to them, or you would need to carfully pry a cover next to the keyboard to show the screws that are holding it down.

I have a Dell XPS-16 and would like to use it with remote minitor and keyboard with the lid closed. How can I set up a hot key on the remote keyboard to start the system when the lid is closed?

You can caust the system to NOT turn off--do nothing--through Control Panel/Power Options Properties/Advanced tab Power Buttons section. Select Do Nothing for When I close the lid....

The remore keybaord you choose may or may not have hotkey options for turning your laptop on and off.

My shift key will not work for all letters, forcing me to use caps lock by pressing it before typing the letter and immediately after typing the letter. any suggestions?

This can be either a bad keyboard or a bad system board. There's no way to tell without swapping out the keyboard. Laptop keyboards aren't hard to replace and cost about $50-60. If that does not resolve the problem, learn to live with it because a replacing the system board generally isn't worth the cost unless you have it covered under warranty.

Hello, your numlock keys are ON, find your Num Lock button and press it off.
It can be a 2 button combination like FN(function button) + Num Lock button. Then it should work.
other way is to press numlock on your external keyboard and then disconnect the board. see if it works.

Keyborad vaio buttons

As long as you have all the pieces (key, levers and spring) you should be able to reassemble them. Every manufacturer designs these mechanisms differently so there is not a generic way to put it back together. If the parts or keyboard were damaged then your only recourse is to order a new keyboard because individual parts are not available for purchase (unless your lucky to find them on ebay).
