Question about HP LaserJet 1500L Printer

1 Answer

Printouts coming out with dots or horizonal lines

I gave an HP Color LaserJet 1500 imaging drum to a friend of mine. After 5 months, her printer started printing magenta dots. She changed the magenta cartridge and it came out with magneta lines. She says it's the drum unit that is causing the problem. She says she cleaned the printer too and that didn't help. Could it be the drum at fault?

I also have magenta spots appearing, the drum and cartridges have recently been replaced. Is there anyway to clean the drum?

I have a problem with the colour prints...there are different kind of lines all over the page..how can i clean the laser heads?is there any automatically way?

Hi,
Dots, Lines and smudges on the printouts are due to deteriorating cartridges and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines. (corresponding to the location where you are having a green line on the paper)
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer is clean and there is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots.
Moreover, streaks (thicker lines) and dots etc indicate faulty PCR Roller which is located behind the green drum inside the cartridge. Replace the Cartridge or get the PCR Roller changed by a professional.
Try cleaning the toners and see if it makes any difference. You would also have an idea about the toner drum/ parts quality etc and check if they need to be replaced. Furthermore, issues with Laser Unit like dust/ toner dust on the lenses and mirrors inside the printer usually result in faded or discolored prints. For instance, faded text/ picture at certain areas or any color missing when you print.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Most Printers that are laser have a transfer roller or transfer belt. If you have replaced all the drums this can often be the problem.

When installing new cartridges, it's always a great idea to perform a cleaning and recalibration of the machine. Below are the steps needed to do just such a task. You may want to print these out or save them somewhere for future reference as well. They are directly from the HP website.
Please rate the tip accordingly and thanks for using Fixya.com.

  3. Remove any paper that may be in tray 1.
  4. Remove the page that printed and load it face down into tray 1.
  5. At the computer, press Clean .
