Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Printer says more than one ink tank is installed

Every time i try to print, an error message comes up saying more than one of my black 5 pgbk ink tanks is installed. i lift the cover, the ink tank is blinking; i take it out, put it back in and the blinking stops. half the time, it then prints, but half the time i have to do this again before it complies. lately it's started giving me this message on the magenta tank sometimes also. i've replaced all the ink tanks once on this machine already.
any help is greatly appreciated.

    I have a Pixma P5200R and it also tells me the same problem: more than one black ink cartridge/tank is installed (nr. 8) and that it can't print. It's a frustrating error, since the whole point with this printer is - in fact - having TWO black cartridges. One is smaller and has nr. 8 and one is larger having number 5. They're lal brand new, so it seems I've spent money on tnaks that don't work?

    same problem here. its a mp530. it says the magenta is not the right kind and refuses to print. even black and white.

    Same problem here, never started to I replaced the ink tank with genuine Canon carts I noticed. Not I am not even able to remove and put back in to make it work. Less than a year old too I think, and probalby less than 250 pages printed.

    Yup! It say more than 1 black ink tank is installed. It just started
    today after a couple of months of flawless operation. I lifted the
    cover and the larger tank was blinking. I popped it out and re-installed
    and it stopped blinking. Printing resumed but I hope this won't be routine.

    Same problem as others. Dad's printer is also doing the same thing. They are both saying more than one magenta installed. Same brand, but two differnt styles of printers. Please help.

    My problem is with the black ink. This MP530 is starting to show that Canon may not have the same quality they used to have. I wonder if this is normal throughout their product lines. I was going to buy a Rebel xTi, but now maybe I'll to a Nikon.

    I finally tired of messing with it and just replaced the almost new black ink cartridge, and it's now working fine again. I think I read somewhere that these cartridges have chips in them, so perhaps some of the cartridges are faulty- I don't think it's a problem with the printer.

    A drag to waste a full cartridge, but better than all the opening and closing and replacing.

    Same here, more than one black cartridge installed. Duh, they're are supposed to have more than one.

Same thing with pro9000 photo cyan. hoping it stops hounding me after photo cyan tank needs replacing

I have the exact same problem. It usually takes me quite a few times of taking the tank out and putting it back in to get the machine to comply. Any solutions?

Canon MX850. Print blank after ink changes. The black ink, PGBK-5, ran out so I replaced it with a cheap generic ink tank. But it didn't work, nothing print, not even color copy. I thought the ink is bad...


That is a common problem on all Canon printers, the purge assembly on the right where the printhead parks, has a pump inside and hoses that go to the filters and ink absorbers. When that unit goes out you need a replacement. A job best done in a shop. When the printhead is not cleaned and primed properly you get blank pages no matter how full the inks are.

My canon MP600 says that it cannot read my pgbk 5 But its appears to be brand new and still had fresh ink in it. But it says it cannot read.how do i fix this.


I had this same problem too and it's so frustrating because you can't do anything without getting that message. I ended up calling Canon at 1-800-828-4040 and they said it was a bad print head (ink tank) and sent me a free replacement. If you're ordering black be sure and specify which black cartridge because we mistakenly got a yellow one as well. Ours was the same in that it was brand new fresh out of the box from Canon, but they say sometimes they just manufacture bad print heads.

I have Canon M560 printer installed 8 months ago. I replaced the CLI 221 Magenta and CLI221 Cyan ink cartridges, won't work and got this message Error 1411. Tried repeatedly to reinstall the ink cartridges and still have this message coming back. Any solution you could offer? I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I scraped the terminals in the printer gently with a screwdriver cleaned them nicely problem seems to be fixed

Canon pixma ip 4200 printer problems


in the printer driver there is a option that whenever you install a new cartridge it has to be reset otherwise it shows the message the above you quoted. one more option is there that is change the chip of yellow cartridge and black, after doing this please whip circuits of the cartridge and printer carriage block before installing the cartridge

Misreads ink tanks: says full ones are empty and there are 2 cyans, etc.


I had the same problem -- error message saying two cyan print tanks installed. Nothing helped (including disconnecting power cord). Then found I had an older cyan print tank still in its pack on hand, Installed that. No further problems. Assume this means print tank giving error is part of a faulty batch so am returning to retailer for refund from Canon.

My printer won't print because there is more than one inktank of the same colour


There are 2 types of black cartridge, CLI-8Bk Black Ink Tank & PGI-5 Pigment Black Ink Tank. These must be installed in the correct order as below. Have you replaced a black cartridge & perhaps used a different type?
