Question about Brother MFC-8440 All-In-One Laser Printer

Paper Jam - now terribly noisy!

I had a paper jam and removed it. However now my machine is making a rasping sound. Like a roller is catching on something. I opened the front, tool out the ink but could see nothing. Opened the back too - still cannot see anything obvious.

The print copies are still coming out OK. I am sure it is something quite simple to fix.

Any ideas on where I can start?

Fuser gear cracked from the sound of it or non oem or recycled toner cart that is too stiff to turn correctly

How to clear paper jam

How you clean the paper jam depends on where it is located and how large the piece is. If you turn off the printer and turn it back on, then press the "ok" button when it says that there is a paper jam - it will rotate the paper inside forward all the way and then retract backwards. Watch the front of the machine and try to grab the paper when the rollers bring it forward. To get it using this method you have to be really quick. If you dont catch it before it goes backwards then press the ok button and try again.

If you are unable to see the piece of paper when the rollers rotate forward, then unplug the machine from the power source and press and hold the power button for 45 to 60 seconds. Then turn the machine around so the the back is facing you.

There should be an unlockable paper access tray on the back of the printer that has two plastic hinges to depress while pulling outward to remove it. Remove the hatch and see if you can find the paper that is stuck in this area. If so, grab it and remove it.

Please advise what you charge for solving following problem:\r\n"Paper jam on Brother MFC-260C:Following Brother User's Guide, I removed the Jam Clear Cover, and pulled out jammed paper, but got only...

Lift the scanner cover using the plastic tabs, located on the left and right side of the machine until it locks securely into the open position. 4c89ecbe03c0173ae1000000cd8620c6.gif 3. Remove all of the paper scraps stuck inside the machine. NOTE: The print head can be moved manually with hand to assist with removing all of the paper scraps. 4c89ed1103c0173ae1000000cd8620c6.gif

4. Turn the machine around and open the Jam Clear Cover (1). Look inside the machine and remove any jammed paper. Then close the Jam Clear Cover (1).

5. After removing all of the paper scraps, Close the scanner cover by lifting the scanner cover to release the lock. Gently push the green scanner cover support down and then close the cover.

6. Remove the paper tray from the machine.

7. Place one of your hands under the LCD unit and into the opening of where the paper tray was.

8. Using your hand, lift the front of the machine approximately 6 inches off the surface.

9. Look inside the tray areas roof of the machine and you should see a row of black rollers. See picture below.

10. Look in-between each of the black rollers for a piece of stuck scrap paper. (A flash light may need to be used if you are having trouble locating the paper scrap).

11. Using a pair of tweezers, the paper scrap can be easily removed from the exit rollers.

12. Place the machine gently down onto the surface.

- If paper scraps were found and removed from the machine, continue to STEP 13.

- If no paper scraps were found inside the machine, the paper in the tray may be causing the issue. If the paper is slightly curled, the print head will catch the edge of the paper and tear it. To resolve the issue, the paper must be replaced.

- If you do not have replacement paper, follow the rest of this solution, after you have replaced the paper.

- If you replaced the paper, continue to STEP 13.

13. Put the paper tray back into the machine.

Printer not catching paper

You may have to clean the pick up rollers with alcohol or put a new roller in your printer.

If you have a printer with a tray, make sure it is set correctly for the paper you have installed.

It will try to grab the paper a number of times and will usually give you a paper jam error after a number of tries.

My hp photosmart c7250 will not clear printing jam. after reseting, the rollers keep running until it times out then displays a print jam.

Sounds more like an out of paper response rather than a jamb. Make sure the pickup roller can actually catch the paper. Use a polymit to roughen the rollers slightly in the slot where the paper is contained. If you take the paper out and look down the slide that holds the paper you will see two or sometimes 3 rollers They can become shiny and fail to grab the paper. Make sure you use proper printing paper and not photocopy paper as this is the stuff that has resinous coating that causes rollers to become shiny.

To also ensure that there is not a tiny piece of paper covering the detection eye for paper jamb use a piece of stiff card and run it through the paper path with a little assistance from you pushing it while the roller turns. This will often remove any tiny bits of paper or waxy substance from the eye.

After a paper jam the ink not setting

If you check the quality of printing by changing the cartridge, then you only have to replace Fuser Unit. Probably that when you remove the sheet (paper jam) fixing deteriorated film oven. Best printer behind the door (rear door) and a flashlight to look to see when you print you can see something broken, a foil. the printer stopped trying to push the fuser - the two blue clamps can not be fixed because of this well and make noise. in most cases breaking a finger to catch the oven (the clip is on the side of the oven gear) so when you change the oven will resolve the problem with noise

Paper jam, need help urgently!

First check the Paper feed roller they maybe slick from paper dust, you need to clean them, then turn of the printer and remove the ink cartridges, turn macine over and check the under side of the machine for any sign of paper, remove any seen, then turn back over reinsert cartridges , turn machine on. paper dust sometimes covers the paper read sensor , causing a paper jam, and slick feed roller also contribute to frequent and pervasive paper jams.

Copier - Paper does not feed/paper jam light keeps going on.

Depending on the type of machine, it is probably just dirty rollers that pick up your paper (slipping). If you remove the tray, and look inside you should see some rollers (usually gray) that take the paper from the tray. Use a cloth dampened with some alcohol(if you have it) or simply water to clean these rollers (gently).. dry if you have used water, the top sheet or 2 of previously used paper, and try it.

Doesn't Print - Says "Paper Jam"

That is the problem, machine will show printer jam if paper feed rollers fail to pick up paper when requested, your machine sounds like it needs new paper feed roller or you can clean the paper feed roller with a slightly! damp cloth.

If no jam light shows when power is turn on and machine comes to ready and then you send a job to printer and it then shows jam then it is the feed roller or sometimes the feed clutch

If on the other hand it always show jam then there is or a switch is stuck.
