Question about Televison & Video

Symphonic WF20L6 20" tv powers down about 30 seconds after turning it on. I found on this site someone said it was the "Power supply faulting for internal problem". My question is how do I get that repaired? Is it something I could do and is it costly?

I think the transformers in these units are the problem not the "power board" I have a symphonic that had a bad transformer in it two legs were not putting out any voltage so I replaced the whole main board for about 50 usd. I may put a small fan inside to move some air around that transformer so that it stays cool

One thing you can do is go to radio shack and buy a can of freeze, spay individual components in the power supply till the tv stays on as long as you keep the part cool.

Did you try holding the power button down for about 30 seconds and release it? There are a lot of videos on plasma sets like yours that have this issue. I would wager the power supply before the main board.

Tv/vcr shuts down after 5 secs.

There is likely an issue in either the primary or the secondary power supply that is causing the TV to shut down. Unless you or someone you know is good at repairing switching power supplies, there's not much you can do to save this unit.

Powers on for a couple of seconds while the green power light flashes 3 or 4 times. Just long enough to see "DIGITAL TELIVISION" at the bottom right of the screen very clearly. Then shuts off.

if this is an LCD TV then its either a power supply or an inverter for the backlights that has gone down.

Bad capacitors on the power supply board is a very common problem with pretty much all makes of LCD TV's

Plasma LG 42PC1D just clicks when you power it on and will sometimes turn on after 30 -40 attemps

This sounds like you have a known issue with the power supply board. The power supply is seeing a problem (typically with the 5vdc) and will shut down the TV just after you try to turn it on.

If you keep trying to turn on the TV, eventually you will catch the 5vdc circuit working and the TV will work until you turn it off.

Soon, the power supply will fail to where the TV will not come back on.

The power supply is around $160 and up. I can find your part number if you give me the rest of the numbers after the model number (example "A.SUSLLJR").

Or, you can have someone in your area fix you TV.

Good luck. I hope my information has helped you.

I turn my symphonic flat screen television on and it immediatly shuts off after about 30 seconds or less

This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an a Symphonic, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have original parts on hand.

In any event, this is most likely, a fairly inexpensive repair, but as related ask for a "Quote" before proceeding with any repair.

16 in symphonic lcd tv wont stay on. Itcomes on for about 30 seconds then shuts off. But it will come back on by itself and do the same thing.

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

When you turn 'on' the tv...the tv continuously 'clicks'

The clicking noise is caused by the relays on the power supply board trying to power up the system. Your TV has detected a problem that's causing the power supply to shutdown. Someone knowledgeable in electronics can track down the problem. The SOURCE of the problem could be another board other the power supply.

I have symphonic tv model sc3918 it will turns off after 5 or 10 second being on

This can be a power supply problem, if you have knowledge on electronics try to check the power supply, but if not better ask for someone who knows electronics to check the power supply.

Good luck.........
