Hey, bought a new plasma tv with a digital optical output plug. I bought a optical cable connected it between the tv and the technics receiver (removed dust cap and put the cable in using the "TV" marked input technics receiver) switched the receiver knob to the TV mode (on the technics receiver) but only had a light hiss coming out of the speakers. If I use audio out cables from the direct tv output to the receiver, everything works. The manual says to connect the "optical cable" between the direct tv "satellite box" to the receiver. I would like to connect this optical cable from the TV (because I hook my computer up to the tv to watch movies, etc...and i would like to have surround sound versus tv speaker sound without changing cables around. Is it possible to use a optical digital output cable directly from my HDTV into the technics receiver or does it HAVE to be from the direct tv satellite box? Any suggestions on this would be appreciated
I went to the HDTV plasma manual. It stated the only way the digital optical audio output would work (from this TV) was to go to the menu, select audio and turn off the TV speakers. Basically, it had nothing to do with the technics receiver.

Hi, I have a Technics SA-DX930 receiver. It overloads once the volume reaches approx 30%, I've disconnected all speakers, and then re-attached them individually. It is only outputting sound to the right speaker in A or B mode, the surrounds and sub are working properly. So two problems: 1-No sound to left speaker (yes I switched speakers and wires, still no output to the left in either A, B, or A&B mode). 2-Overload at 30% volume (happens with individual speakers hooked up as well as all speakers).

My system also clicks (as it does when it comes on) and the sound quits. There is no error message and I used to be able to slap the side a couple times and it would come back on. Without slapping, it may click and come back on in 15 to 30 minutes. Lately, slapping doesn't work and it stays off longer. I took the cover off and the fuse is good but the fan is not spinning. I don't know if I found the culprit, but I tapped on one of the OEG BLUE SQUARE MODULES and it came back on. Any expert ideas? Thanks.
