You must first determine what the actual oil pressure is by using a mechanical oil gauge. Then compare this to the reading on the generators control panel. If the control panel is showing much higher then what your mechanical gauge shows then you probably have a bad sensor. If the reading is the same on both the mechanical gauge and the generators control panel and it is somewhere in the vacinity of 55-70 psi this is normal. The alarm might be because of the oil pressure alarm configurations need to be adjusted in the control panel. This needs to be done by a factory certified rep who has the software to link to your generators control panel.

See if it has a low oil pressure switch on the side of the engine if so cut the wire and try it

Over crank

Over crank is just that, cranking and cranking for a timed period without a run signal. Make sure the fuel solenoid is opening and you have the correct gas pressure. Too much pressure can stop it opening. Then check you have a spark at the plugs, this will eliminate ignition, and you can re-focus on the fuel system. You didn't say it was LP or Nat gas

I'm Looking for a Manual for a Dayton Generator Model 4LM41A

Could be it's in the exercise mode. And when the exercise period ends it's shutting down.
Generac might have made this unit for Dayton.

I have a generac 6500 r/v generator 6 months old with @ 50 hours on it. The generator starts and runs fine for 10 minutes and then revs very high. Some times it will rev up and down like it is searching...

Make sure all the linkages and springs are hooked up on the throttle system and where they pivit is clean. Try moving the linkage by hand gently to make sure there is no sticking and litely oil where the linkages connect. If everything is working properly your internal governor has to be replaced.

Runs for 10 seconds and shuts down

What fault code are you getting. If it is low oil pressure first check to make sure you have at least 10 psi by installing a pressure gauge where the oil pressure switch is. If you do then try disconnecting the wire(s) from the oil pressure switch and see if the unit continues to run. If it does then you just have a bad oil pressure switch.

If it is a high temperature fault code trying disconnecting the temperature switch and see if the unit stays running if it does then you have a bad temperature switch.

On a generac pressure washer that works fine.

Oil level in pump and motor OK? Spark plug not fouled? Has it sat for a while - carb dirty? Running (loaded) throttle rpm not high enough?
